The lump sum was a smart decision. Going public with his identity was not.

They can make the same “Hundreds of millions” if they invest it. It’s what the Lottery does. If the Lottery had all the cash on hand, they could lump sum the whole amount.
I'm of two minds on this. One way is to stay as anonymous as possible, but if he's famous, it could work also. It's worked for Hillary all these years. She's not in jail.
With all the nut cases and people with less than honest intentions, I sure hope he’s ready for the onslaught.
Noting that the statistical destiny of probably more than half of all lottery winners is to file for bankruptcy, it would probably have been wiser for this winner to accept multiple payments instead of taking the winnings all at once. Proverbs 17:16 comes to mind.

An up front lump sum is based on present future value. And you are clear on the amount of taxes taken now instead of what a-hole politicians will do with the tax code in the future.
Also, if some is invested wisely, they will make MORE than taking it over time.

His employer may not want him to continue working if disruptions and security concerns begin. Furthermore, somebody else surely needs that job more than he does now. The Robinsons can stay productive in other ways.
