Cruz slams Trump for holding ‘New York values’
New York Post ^ | January 13, 2016 | Geoff Earle

Posted on 01/15/2016 3:29:42 PM PST by Will88

Cruz told the Howie Carr radio show that Trump should stop playing Born in the USA at his rallies a song thats an obvious dig at the Canadian-born Texas senator.

I think he may shift in his new rallies to playing New York, New York because Donald comes from New York and he embodies New York values, Cruz said on the show Tuesday.

The comment wasnt intended as a compliment.

Cruz supporters in Iowa have been testing possible attack lines against Trump in a telephone poll and one of them brands the GOP presidential front-runner as a New York liberal.

Notice, the article was the day before the debate where Cruz's "New York values" smear became a topic of a spirited exchange between Cruz and Trump.

So, Ted had his psyops, push poll researchers in Iowa poll Iowans to discover what smears he could use to try and damage Trump. And, they came up with "New York values" and Ted proceeded to spew it out on the "Howie Carr Show". Old Ted really taking the high road, NOT.

All this talk about values. Say, isn’t his wife a Director at the Goldman Sachs, arguably one of the most distrusted unscrupulous companies on the planet?

Very odd.

Whatever, to me it is a silly campaign tactic to push poll voters to determine how to slam an opponent. That method tells us more about what “Ted Cruz Values” are, than about New York values, other than what campaign tactic Ted used to attack an opponent, a silly guilt by association tactic.

And Ted is not running against New York, but against Trump and Trump’s stance on issues.

It isn’t possible to “smear” “New York values”.

A year ago anyone pushing “New York values” as being in any way conservative on this forum would have been mocked and zotted.

It only shows how far left Trump supporters have pulled this forum.

I live in California and I certainly won’t vote for anyone promoting “California values”. The same goes for New York. It isn’t that complicated.

Just listened to the interview that Trump did with Russert that Cruz referred to last night.

Trump was unequivocally pro-abortion including partial birth abortion, which was discussed. He was also fine with gay marriage and gays in the military.

Now you can believe that Trump woke up one morning and decided he was all wrong on those issues. I don’t believe that a man reached the age that Trump was when he evoked those opinions and suddenly did a complete about-face.

It’s not like he was “born again”. He wouldn’t even know what that is.

Being as I live in NY, the number of people expressing fake outrage without taking a critical look at the “why” of it is amusing.
I don’t feel personally insulted.
Rather, it is similar to saying “Chicago politics”,
“ Detroit living”, and “San Francisco values”.

No one is pushing New York values, only saying that Cruz is not running against New York values, but against Donald Trump's stances on the campaign issues.

Lol, I didn’t realize DeBlasio was running against Cruz for the Republican nomination. Cruz supporters are having a real problem realizing that Ted is running against Trump and Trump’s stances on the campaign issues, and not against New York values or New York Democrat politicians.

I agree....

So far Trumps not explained convincingly why he changed to Republican....nor deciding he could be the torch bearer for Conservatism.

Just as when asked about his faith....he could not relate at all to even the basic understanding of Christianity. I don’t think any of it matters to him....rather that he “paints” a picture of both that convinces voters to give him the Presidency.

There’s a lot of people putting their “Hope” in this guy and it’s just not going to work out for the as they believe.

I hear people here even saying that jobs and security are the focus they want.....that “later” they can look at other issues.

But I have to say that if Trump gets this office he’s going to do what he wants regardless of the people....he just watched Obama get away with everything and the moon....the guy knows the world is his too if he wins.

“So I take it you like NY values?”

All the people in NY do not have the same values... There are conservatives in NYC and those will be the ones voting in the primary. Democrats, BTW, have the same values no mater where they live.
