It might be BS, but my brother in law seemed to milk it for several years. He seemed to work just long enough to re-qualify.

Outside of major urban areas, $50K is enough to buy a modest house, have a decent car, save a little money, fund a 401K. Not ever going to be wealthy, but pretty much middle class.
While the person works, the employer is the one who pays for the unemployment insurance tax. No money is taken out of the employees paycheck to pay for the unemployment insurance. But yes it has to en at some point.
Don’t give them any ideas. The lifetime dole in other “enlightened” countries is bad enough.
Scheme. Well that’s it.
Here in NJ the high taxes are everywhere; if not the highest in the country, certainly close. NY is like that as well; Long Island is notorious for it (and it is not generally “urban”).
