Bob Dole was an ass then. He is an ass now.

... Takes one to know one and I hope the Trump supporters realize it.
They are drunk on the personality. They don’t let facts get in their way.
Thank goodness we have an inorganic rock conservative who never belittles anyone and does not resort to an all lie campaign to vote for.

“Former Senator Bob Dole opposed Ronald Reagan in 1980.”

I had forgotten about that, but it’s accurate.

Trump, McConnell, Dole.

What a team. How can we lose?

...establishment oriented lobbyists saying they would far prefer Trump to Cruz because Trump is malleable.

Trump should address this definitively because it should be a concern of Trump supporters. Getting along by going along has too long been the keynote of Republican congressional leaders. So Donald "The Art of The Deal" Trump's claim that he can get along with anyone needs defined parameters.

I greatly appreciate Dole’s service to the country in combat, but as an “expert” in presidential electoral politics, he’s quite lacking. This is the same guy who muttered he “could be Reagan if we wanted” in his doomed-from-the-start campaign in 1996.

Excellent. The destruction of the GOPe slate is almost complete. They are even abandoning Rubio.

More so, it is settling the stage for down ballot campaigns across the country.

Ladies and gentlemen, I do believe that I can now declare that there are finally two parties again.

“Bob Dole, Who Opposed Ronald Reagan”

Shut up, he explained.

Naw, Trumps bigger than Reagan. Reagan never did what Trump has done, with the crowds and the lights and the show.

Two Corinthians!

Bob Dole popping back up in the news makes me remember the 1988 Republican nomination contest. For those old enough to remember, the nomination came down to Bush, Dole and Pat Robertson. Talk about a horrible set of choices. I held my nose and voted for Dole.

Bob Dole? Let’s see. The GOP candidate for vice-president in 1976 who lost. The GOP candidate for president in 1996 who lost. And the man whose wife was unable to hold the Senate seat that Jesse Helms had for decades and was voted out of office after 1 term. Yep, we should listen to and obey everything he says/sarc.

I’m a Cruz guy all the way, win or lose. Trump has definitely tapped the general frustrations, anger, and anxiety the US is facing. And I’m glad he’s given the majority of us a national stage. But, he’s not a conservative. He is, at his core, an opportunist. When the GOPe would rather Trump be the nominee, vice Cruz...that speaks volumes. PLUS, Cruz’s calling Mitch a liar and then having that as part of the Congressional record is priceless.

Looks to me like the Establishment has realized that it’s boiling down to a two man race, Trump vs Cruz, and of the two, they think that Trump is less threatening to their oligarchy.

I think that, among other things, they perceive Trump as an ego candidate who can be more easily malleable to their will after the fact. They may be mistaken.

Either way, their ‘support’ isn’t necessarily a positive.

Disclaimer: I like Ted. I also think that overall, he doesn’t stand a chance, as if he were the nominee, the establishment would step all over themselves to vote for Hillary out of spite. I’m entertained by Donald, and like the idea of throwing a wrench into the Establishment’s gears. I’m unsure that he would actually deliver on his promises.

That said, what I’m truly sick and tired of are the Doles, the Bushes, the McCains, the Romneys, and all the other mealy-mouthed losers we’ve had foisted off on us over the years. What have they ever done for us?
