Hey, guys!
I've encountered problem with my new laptop (courtesy of the wife!) that I've not encountered before. It's got me stumped, and I can't save any files because of it.
When clicking on Save or Save As, I get an immediate pop-up, "adownloader", which unapologetically says, "Cannot create file"C:\Users\Dolt\Downloads\Data\FRED\Population data\LFWA64TTUM647N:\1453506086945.DownloadFile". The filename, directory name,or volume label syntax is incorrect."
Note that "Dolt" has been substituted for my user name!
I cannot move past this. I've Googled it, to no avail.
I'm loathe to use registry cleaners, as they often cause more problems than they solve.
Can anyone out there help me with this, and gain a lifelong pal in the process?
Many, many thanks in advance!
CA....
What am I not seeing?
CA....
That’s actually funny. Dolt...
Adownloader is a third-party app. Go to Control Panel - Programs and Features and uninstall it.
I am a founding member of the I HATE Windows 10 club. I am still trying to figure it out with minimal success. But it sounds to me like you have a virus.
Did you try rebooting? How about restoring from a previous date?
Best of luck!
What is your Dolt rating?
btw, start a malwarebytes scan...
Then hit it with CCleaner
Lastly, use Windex to disinfect
DOWNLOAD WINDOWS 10 NOW. DO IT.
Go this site site:
https://www.malwarebytes.org/antimalware/
and dowload the malwarebytes program, and install and run it.
It’s free.
There’s a Windows 10 reset option. Did you do that? It reinstalls 10 but keeps your files.
I’m not a Win10 user, but does that full directory path actually exist? (all those folders are there) I’d maybe try saving it to the Desktop, just to see if that works. Also, it looks like there’s a LONG extension on your filename? Don’t know if that’s supported in Win10, but you could try an 8.3 type name and see if that helps....
Good luck!
Do a system restore. Hold the shift key down and restart the system. When the screen goes blank release the shift key. once it restarts you can do a restore from there.
if he tries it without the colon, would that make him a half ass?
U’d B an * it....
(The colon is an illegal character in DOS filenames...)
He's like Anonymous but smaller...and with tiny whiskers.
The only solution is cheese. Lot's of cheese.
btw, start a malwarebytes scan...
Then hit it with CCleaner
Lastly, use Windex to disinfect
