Jim, it seems to me that regardless of who wants to point fingers at who 'started' this division within FR into two camps, Cruz and Trump, that we need to keep in mind what YOU said yourself, and you were right when you said them, and those words are still right today:

Regarding Trump:

"Build a wall, enforce the law, deport them all. End anchor babies. End sanctuary cities. Slap a moratorium on Muslim invasion, er, immigration. Investigate the mosques. Secure the borders, secure the nation.

Cut the taxes, cut the spending, cut the regulations, cut the government. Strengthen the economy, bring back the jobs.

Rebuild the military.

Buck the media, buck the GOPe.

Sounds pretty conservative to me."

Then there was this:

"No president (other than Obama) is going to be able to do anything without the support of the congress.

And even before that he has to win the primary. Then the general election. I like Cruz (a lot), but he'd best get cooking. Trump's eating his lunch in 49 states.

Meanwhile, if Cruz doesn't make it, I'm happy Trump is there to deny the nomination to amnesty pimping GOPe RINOs Rubio or Bush.

At least Trump is a successful capitalist. And I do believe he loves America."

Now as I've said many times, I was supporting Ted Cruz long before Trump entered the race, however there is absolutely no denying that Trump has run a superior campaign. Unless there is some sort of totally unforeseen calamity between now and next Monday February 1st, Trump is highly likely to win the Iowa caucuses, following up with a win in New Hampshire and in all probability a win in South Carolina. That is going to be quite the Trifecta for Ted Cruz to overcome.

In contrast to the campaign Trump is running, the Cruz campaign seems to be continually caught flat footed with these controversies that have popped up one after another, it doesn't matter who brought them up, what matters is how the Cruz campaign has dealt with it, and the kindest thing I can say is that whoever is running their 'crisis response center', their performance has been "less than optimal". The latest (and worst IMHO) episode is this whole Glenn Beck endorsement, and Ted Cruz is an internet-savvy guy, didn't he do some basic Google research and consider the fact that Beck is considered to be a crazed moon bat by more than a handful of people? The guy is a fruitcake, and he is NOT the Glenn Beck of many years ago who actually had some good attributes about him. Like the saying goes, "lie with dogs, wake up with fleas" and sadly I predict Ted Cruz is going to be itching severely.

In contrast, Donald Trump has been endorsed by Sarah Palin, and the venom which was unleashed by many FReepers who used to admire her is nothing less than shocking. I've seen more than a few FReepers imply or actually state that she was bought like a cheap whore by Donald Trump, who needs the Huffington Post, or the DU, or Salon when our own FReeper neighbors are providing ammo for the 'RATs?

But on the subject of this so-called 'Regrouping' blog that a few FReepers have showed up on, this is nothing but a re-run of the infamous "Wide Awakes" set up by the not-so-dearly departed MadIvan, following the (cue Klingon inflection) *GLORIOUS* FR Bug Zapper Zot War of 2007. [graphic included for nostalgia]

9 years ago, we saw the same sort of disgruntled posters who for whatever reasons they chose to embrace, fled FR for the proverbial 'greener pastures', predicting all sorts of dire consequences for FR without their exquisite 'input'.

Well here is FR, still going stronger than ever. No one FReeper is bigger than FR (except for you Jim, because you ARE "FR").

I predicted a while ago that we could be heading for another Zot War should it become clear that Trump is headed for the nomination and the many Cruz supporters would be unable to accept that. That would be regretable, however Thomas Jefferson could have been talking about FR when he talked about "refreshing the Tree of Liberty".

Pardon the small novel here, but just wanted to make these few observations.

I went to take a look over there to see what it was all about.

I won’t miss the ones I recognized.

I infinitely prefer Cruz but I can and probably will certainly vote for Trump IF he has been nominated. He is not Moral Monster Mitt Romney.

I was having a LOT of internet and computer problems yesterday. You had a post that I was unable to reslpond to which was to the effect that you and I have had strife in the past. If so, I have no recollection. My attention span in flame wars is a few hours and I do not hold against anyone that they have flamed me. Each and every FReeper has the same right to his or her opinions as I have to my own and that is what makes this website the wonderful community that it is.

In 2014, at Thanksgiving, I collapsed into a coma induced by sudden massive kidney failure at home, on top of numerous other very serious medical conditions. I was in that coma until a few days before Christmas and the doctors expected my to die each and every day of the first seventeen days of that coma. People on this website, including some whom I had shamefully treated in flame wars, prayed me back to consciousness and physical survival through the grace of God.

My health will never be truly good. I got out of nursing home care in April. I now drive, shop, occasionally go to a Chinese Buffet, and go to Mass when when weather permits. Because of kidney dialysis about 20 miles from home, I have to go into town three times a week but I am about to be able to do and be trained to do my own dialysis at home.

When my Savior and yours gave us the Lord's Prayer, he taught us to say: "Forgive us our trespasses as we forgive those who trespass against us." Trust that whatever you may ever have said to me here is forgotten and forgiven. I ask that you forgive me any transgression against you likewise. Please keep me in your prayers as I will keep you and yours in mine.

May God bless you and yours!
