I have always respected and enjoyed Lou Dobbs, thinking he was an independent thinker, takes nothing from no one, a maverick.
Well, tonight he lost all credibility, no doubt trying to please Roger Ailes.line and falls lock step with the Fox media machine.
Lou spouted off that Fox did not suffer from Trumps absence, that Trump lost in his fight with Fox. Dobbs said the debate was the second highest broadcast for Fox, with 14 Million viewers, and that he was proud that Fox did not give in to Trump's request to remove Kelly, and that no network should pay money as a condition for the candidate to debate.
Well, Lou, let the truth be told...
The first Fox debate on FNC drew 24 Million viewers.
The second Fox debate on Fox Business Network (FBN) drew 11 million
The debate last night, on FNC drew 14 Million per Fox, 12.5 per other sources.
FNC has a reach in viewership of almost 30 Million more viewers that FBN. Seems to me simple math and common sense reveals that FNC lost at least 10 Million viewers.
Also, the reason Trump did not attend was not Megyn Kelly, but rather the infantile press release put out by Ailes.
You have gone to the darkside, Lou. Tell the truth... you may not get that next raise, but you will keep the respect of the people... if that means anything to you.
Time to add Lou Dobbs to the "No Watch" list.
Truth, Justice, and the American Way.
I saw that too and was disappointed.
I left FNC for FBN to watch Lou Dobbs, Charles Payne and Neil Cavuto.
I guess I am now down to two, Payne and Cavuto.
Thanks for the info.
“I left FNC for FBN to watch Lou Dobbs, Charles Payne and Neil Cavuto.”
We did the same.
What a sad day. Really liked Lou Dobbs.
I haven’t watched Fox for the past few days. I did tune in, briefly, to listen to O’Reilly’s thinly veiled begging session with Trump, and that’s been it.
When I hear any of them now, they make me sick. I doubt they’ll have Ann Coulter back on (Hannity) now that she’s written a scathing article about them. I don’t know what I’m going to watch now....may as well go with CNN. At least they don’t pretend to be conservative.
Never fear. I’m sure they’ll soon say something to offend you and then you won’t have to watch anyone.
Maybe you’ll get lucky and Trump will buy a station and it’ll be all good things Trump 24 hours a day. It apears that’s what Trump supporters want.
They are all loyal to the hand that feeds them... to hell with integrity.
How do u know Dobbs is not speaking his truth?
Objectivity takes second place to the guy who signs the paycheck
Ailes signs the paychecks...heard that Brian on Fox and Friends has not said 3 words lately...and he was a big Trump fan...oh well, some people have to live by money and some live by morals...
My gosh. Isn’t Lou Dobbs’ boss Roger Ailes? I can’t imagine anybody on Free Republic who would bash their boss in public. Wouldn’t that be a very stupid thing to do?
Dobbs was just reading the company memo... they all did. Did any Fox commentator voice a different opinion? I wouldn’t know, I no longer watch them...
I’m takin some time off as well.
Whatever the network, whoever the “moderators” the questions asked in “Debates” be they Dem or Rep, are pitiful. It really shows a lack of understanding of the real issues amongst the MSM. It’s a sorry state of affairs for Megyn to try to zing Trump with such a stupid question, which struck me as prejudicial, broad based (no pun intended) and divisive.
If professional women can’t take some name calling then they should stop asking for traditional male occupations. If FatAzz Rosie and others can’t take it, as well as dish it back, then TDB. Usually Megyn is spot on with her questions, and asks them in professional manner, even when confrontation is in order. But that was WAY over the top.
“My gosh. Isnât Lou Dobbsâ boss Roger Ailes? I canât imagine anybody on Free Republic who would bash their boss in public. Wouldnât that be a very stupid thing to do?”
Dobbs did not have to bash his boss... he elected to spout lies and misinformation to protect his boss and his job.
He could have remained silent on the issue if he did not agree and worried for his boss.
That black list is getting really, really long.
Yes, it would be, but lying is also bad.
The ratings were about as expected.
They probably would have been higher with Trump, but probably not much. People do tire of the same thing over and over.
Completely wrong analysis on the OP’s part. The debates have dropped greatly in ratings since the first two. CNN’s 2nd and FoxBiz’s 2nd were much lower than the first. This one was going to be much lower than Fox’s first. Only about 2 million more people watched CNN and MSNBC than normal, so that’s all you can say Trump’s fans who bolted from Fox consisted of. If the real number is 14 million then I’d say there was very little audience out there who simply didn’t watch either channel. 15 to at the absolute most 16 million is about the ratings that would’ve been expected for this debate normally.
