Paul Ryan is hosting a fundraising retreat in Palm Beach, Florida this week that is drawing a number of major donors - in addition to the House speaker's 2012 running mate.
Mitt Romney was among those who addressed the confab on Thursday, according to two sources present. Also speaking were two former 2016 GOP contenders, Scott Walker and Lindsey Graham. The group gathered at the posh Eau Palm Beach Resort & Spa.
Unlike his predecessor John Boehner, Ryan is not known for his prodigious fundraising skills. But he is taking steps to expand his network. The new House speaker recently tapped Spencer Zwick, a longtime Romney confidant, to help oversee his fundraising operation.

Who is the engine and who is the caboose in that three-way?
Birds of a feather.
Meanwhile, I wonder what they are cooking up for the masses.
RINO’s -R-Us.
Did they leave out the other Wisconsin wunderkind, Reince Preibus?
Because of Trump, Romney may rhink he can grow a pair. I also wouldn’t be surprised if Bloomberg stuck his billion dollar threat into that group. But I’ve been seeing lots of anti-Kasich ads in NH, and I’m wondering why, he’s no threat. The RINOs are up to something.
Why?
If Ryan is there, then Reince Preibus is there, even if it is the virtual Reince Preibus. Nobody in Wisconsin's GOP-e/USCofC Crime Family farts without the others' input.

There are many self-proclaimed “conservatives” on FR who are just Jim Dandy with the continuation of the Elite.
Yes we did.
He was my early pick based on his great accomplishments in Wisconsin. But every since he drove his campaign into the ground, he has been working hard to ensure that I never support him for any office again.
They are still trying to clear the deck for !Yeb!.
They’re making sure everyone is on the same page to make sure a certain Congressman from SE Wisconsin encounters no “anti-establishment” blowback from his non-support of the 2 frontrunners and his 1.3 trillion dollar present to Obama.
This is the begining of the process of keeping the speakership in RNC/GOPe/CoC hands....it was supposed to be Cantor originally.
Why? I think Kasich is in play for some RINO scheme to capture OH, and the PACs suspect it. With the herd of RINOS in Florida, lol, I see a vast RINO conspiracy.
Well considering that Reince was pretty busy Thursday with the debate and all. I GUARANTEE you he was not in Florida. He was in Iowa and even was on the news. So the only option would be VTC and who knows. If it was any other day but Thursday (except Monday) then I could see him VTC’ing but Thursday he was running around preparing for the debate giving numerous news media events. I am not sure you have a clue how politics works. You’ll learn.
Since this thread talks about Ryan, can someone please set me straight about something regarding his move to Speaker?
As I recall, at the end of the process he was given the green light by the Freedom Caucus. Shortly thereafter he was Speaker with very minimal opposition.
The Freedom Caucus was formed last year, and I remember reading in here that Sen Cruz would meet with them unofficially rather often. I also remember posting in here back then that if Ryan became speaker, Cruz would be partially responsible even though as a Senator he could not vote on his promotion.
Their cooperation began back during the lobbying effort for TPA, where they co-authored an op-ed in the WSJ.
“This is a fundraiser for Paul Ryan who represents Wisconsin. It makes sense that he would be there. These guys needs to figure out how to pick a Senator candidate to go against Russ Fingold. That is the last person we want back in the White House. I don’t know why you are against that? It is silly. I guess that is why Americans are so fed up with politics because of all this pettiness.”
One, because I’m for the removal of Paul Ryan as speaker, and from the Congress. He is a completely worthless man. Two, the republicans already have a candidate for senate in Wisconsin, incumbent Senator Ron Johnson. And if Johnson hadn’t cozied up to the leadership so much in the last six years, his reelection would not be in doubt. Here is his voting record. Only the Establishment shill agencies rate him highly.
Johnson (WI) - 2016 - 74% (Average) - 60% (CReview) - 46% (Heritage) - 73% (Freedomworks) - 95% (CFG) - 96% (ACU)
Now that there is interesting.
I’ve asked that question on multiple threads since the primary season started.
Yours is the first response I’ve gotten.
Thanks.
because Iâm for the removal of Paul Ryan as speaker,
I think many agree with you, but nobody wanted the job. They had to beg Paul Ryan to take the job and he gave a list of “wants” in order to accept the position. If nobody else wants the job, Paul Ryan will stay on the job for as long as he wants the job. It is a shame that the other 200 or so house Republicans didn’t step up and take the job.
