Embracing gun control has always been a toxic issue for Democrats. It has played well deep in their darkests bases, like New York City and the District of Columbia, where ignorance about guns and gun law is pervasive and cherished. On the national stage, they have been careful to approach it sideways, with code words like “gun safety†and “common senseâ€. In 1994, when Bill Clinton pushed it the hardest on the national stage, the Democrats suffered one of their most emphatic defeats; the Republican revolution of 1994. President Clinton even acknowledged that his gun control push was a major reason for the Democrat loss of the House.
Democrats shied away from gun control for the next 20 years. Then, safely reelected in 2012, President Obama made another major push, in 2013. Again, Democrats suffered stunning defeats, losing the Senate and losing so many seats in the House that Republicans have majorities that they had not achieved in 85 years.
On the primary trail, and fighting for ever smaller numbers of ideologically rigid primary voters, Hillary and O'Malley are pushing for more gun control. Sanders shows that he cannot withstand the pressure, even as he gains ground. He has come out for a gun control bill designed to destroy gun manufacturers in the United States. From politico.com:

I hope Bloomberg gets in. Then Hillary/Bernie and Bloomy can split the gun grabber vote.
If that door opens, then I fail to see how Ford and Chrysler won’t be liable for 100% of the car accidents in this country that involve Fords or Chryslers.
Just because you sell a product, it doesn’t mean you’re liable when someone does something they shouldn’t with it.

If Obama’s background is true as speculated on here, Obama will back Sanders over Clinton.
I find Obama’s meetings (2 thus far for “lunch”) with Sanders very interesting. I don’t think Sanders is nationally electable (but then I also never thought we’d have a president named Barack Hussein Obama) & I doubt Obama thinks so either, but if Sanders beats Hilly in Iowa & NH, with all of her other baggage, I think Obama will be willing to throw her to the wolves in some form or fashion. Biden will get the call, but it would behoove the Dems to somehow take advantage of ‘Bernmentum’. Interesting days ahead.
In that case they will have to pull out Elizabeth Warren.
I think you’re right - Warren could probably keep a lot of the ‘Bernmentum’ going without the Bernie.
I don’t think they have an option. Hillary is about to spend the next decade in a courtroom. Biden is a clinical idiot. The other guy at the debate is generally known only as the other guy at the debate. The stage is so toxic that nobody else wants to jump in at this point. Trump is a juggernaut.
Bernie is the only viable candidate for the Left at this point: a true believer in all things communist, a persuasive speaker to the base, and the only person the Left’s establishment is willing to sacrifice if he doesn’t win.

As Thunder90 mentioned, what about adding Warren to a Biden ticket? The Left appears to love her.
That would do worse than McCain/Palin did, and for similar reasons.

Want to stop the 'rats in their tracks on this one? Tell them the "logical" conclusion to this idiocy is not just:
...No, that won't do. You see, you and I look at this and realize such a stance would effectively kill commerce at all levels. Everything. Because literally any and every product and service can be abused, misused, and contribute to a crime.
Now, some commie anarchist types might like that. Some fascist types might salivate at the idea of regulating the descent into madness this would result in. But if you want to stop the politicians in their tracks tell them there is one other "service" this would also apply to: gun control. Every time there is a robbery, shooting, murder, etc. in a "gun free" zone then every legislator that not only put these laws in place but did not remove them upon election is now personally and professionally liable for creating the defenseless victim pool that drew the criminal to them. They are all guilty of aiding and abetting, with all the criminal and civil penalties that implies.
As soon as we start putting "gun free zone" supporters in jail and suing them for aiding and abetting, "gun free zones" become a thing of the past.
The irony of a Jewish socialist, heir to the political ideology of hitler and his national socialists who murdered millions of innocents including 6 million Jews is simply beyond the ability to comprehend.
And truly, all socialists are heirs to the legacy of hitler, they may have been indoctrinated otherwise, but they all come from the same totalitarian sewer. A truly fecal leftist culture that needs to be resealed in its festering Petri dish of history never to see the light of day again.
I find it disturbing that high profile candidates can bark at the moon about guns & how they should be banned.
What exactly do these persons think the Secret Service uses? The U S Marshals? The various police & sheriff deputies all over the country? The highway patrol?
I know of plenty of guns that have NEVER harmed a single person.
Nothing is addressed about the recidivism of criminals in the USA, nor the high numbers of mentally ill people who commit crimes.
ACLU got the mental institutions closed 35 years ago. This is their legacy of that action.
Guns are not the problem. A justice system that runs a fantastic revolving door. People who are mentally ill-—and they keep breeding more just like themselves. To top that off, the government keeps supporting these ill people in a number of ways & their numbers keep growing. Families who know darn well that there is a person in the family group who should not be loose on the streets, but they never discus this until the reporters are interviewing them AFTER a heinous crime. “He just had a few problems”. The entire family is in total denial.....
Even if the government gave each citizen a permanent protector deputy, neither one of the pair would have a proper weapon.
Do these mental midget politicians think the Secret Service will be armed with baseball bats? Machetes? Battery powered drills? What???
What will Sanders use for weapons for the military? Rocks?
Maybe not only the radical Muslims are trying to take us back to the 7th century........
