He Was An Undecided Iowan Until He He Received This Controversial Mailer From Ted Cruz
IJ Review ^ | 1/30/2016 | Sarah Rumpf

As Iowans prepare to head to the caucuses on Monday for the nation's first votes in the presidential primaries, the campaigns are pulling out all the stops. The mailer sent out by one Republican campaign, however, might end up backfiring.

Tom Hinkeldey, a resident of Alta, Iowa, tweeted a photo (which was later deleted because it included his personal address) on Friday evening of a mailer Sen. Ted Cruz’s campaign sent addressed to his wife, Steffany. The mailer was a large card printed to look like a manila envelope on one side and was labeled in all capital letters, "ELECTION ALERT," "VOTER VIOLATION," "PUBLIC RECORD," and "FURTHER ACTION NEEDED."

On the other side, the mailer said in red letters at the top, "VOTING VIOLATION."

Mailing out citations based on information from Big Brother databases for not being "pure" enough. Doesn't seem like a good way to win FRiends and influence people to me.

Are we sure that’s not a report card from the scam Trump University?

Sounds like if Ted wins, he’ll use Homeland Security to send violators like this to a re-education camp.

Election 2016 - may the biggest jerks lose. And at this point, I’m not sure who that would be.

I smell a rat. My guess is that it comes from the carnival barker’s camp.

I started as a Cruz guy, with Trump as my second choice.
Then I became a Trump guy, with Cruz as my second choice.

Now I’m starting to really dislike Cruz.

I KNOW that Trump will build the wall and that’s the big thing for me. It is for that reason that I overlook just about anything stupid that Trump might say or do. He’ll build the wall, and so I give him a pass on a lot of stuff.

Cruz? His only guaranteed positive has been that he’s a “pure” Conservative (and Trump is not). I guess that “purity” is supposed to outweigh other stuff — Canadian birth, Goldman Sachs money, immigration bill murkiness, now this Big Brother intrusion.

Sorry: Cruz’s “purity” doesn’t seem that “pure” and it doesn’t outweigh the negatives which are piling up.

I’m starting to really dislike Cruz.

Cruz may still win Iowa but stuff like this is making it less and less likely.

I smell a rat.

The Cruz campaign admits they sent it, and they do not apologize.

There has already been an earlier thread on this where the same desperate line was trotted out. Go read it and see that it was confirmed to be from Cruz....where then the spin shifted to how its a grew idea and that we should all stop talking about it.

I am just ready for the election to be over.

I will vote against the Democrat in the General - unless, Bush or one of the rinos gets suspiciously nominated.

I will vote for Cruz in the primary.

Rather than knee-jerk this - am I growing up? - I went back to sleep ruminating on it.

So, a guy at an Iowa college, part of Team Cruz, puts this idea together to get the attention of Iowans who get 10 campaign mailers per day, plus polling calls, which largely get thrown in the trash and hung up on. This mailer, he says, will not be thrown away, in fact the recipients will immediately call their neighbors listed on the violation form to confirm THEY got one, too.

Sounds like a marketing breakthrough, no?

But on the same day 7 people depart the campaign under questionable circumstances. I’m looking for more info on that, if anybody knows anything.

So this Iowa professor or whatever he is, is he still with the campaign? If so, then this is stupider than the Beck idea. If not, then Cruz likely didn’t hear about the mailer until people started opening theirs and likely blew a gasket. Remember, Cruz’ church and 4 others in Houston were targeted by lezbo mayor Anissa Parker to hand over their sermons, which Cruz remedied immediately.

IMO, Cruz wouldn’t approve this, Texans are outraged by this kind of stuff. Iowans probably aren’t, subject as they are to Caucus attention overkill every 4 years.

Was camp Cruz sabotaged? Need more data - from that Dailey affair - to decide. OTOH, depending how ‘narrow’ this mailing was, it could be the talk of IA until Monday.

In the general election, I will vote Trump or Cruz.

I just won’t be enthusiastic for Cruz.

And the rest of the Republican Party is dead to me.

Cruz is an idot. That is the dumbest piece of trash sent to an American ever and it fits Cruz’s integrity. Lord the more I hear from this turd, the more I hope Cruz is over after Monday. So sick of him getting a free vacation on tax payers to run around America. He should have resigned his position if he wanted to run for President. He is a terrible person.

Does anyone know for certain that this originated with the Cruz campaign? Dirty tricks abound in tight races even amongst rival pubbies. Of course, it could always be our rat friends, too.

I take nothing for granted.

Seems re-education camps already exist. New York state is sending those Christian farm people who denied a lesbian wedding at their place have to go to be ‘educated’ on homosexual behavior classes.

actually a very effective GOTV technique in a low turnout vote.

80% of registered GOPers will be staying home on Monday.
