SAN FRANCISCO (AP) -- Facebook says it's cracking down on online gun sales, announcing Friday a new policy barring private individuals from advertising or selling firearms on the world's largest social network.

The new policy applies also to Facebook's photo-sharing service Instagram. It comes after gun control groups have long complained that Facebook and other online sites are frequently used by unlicensed sellers and buyers not legally eligible to buy firearms.

They are very tolerant of “spammy” posts made by bots as well.

Too many like-minded people on that site overseas, so not enough will vote with their feet to undermine FB once and for all. Unless they wake up.

We need an alternate form of online community that’s anti-Facebook so Suckerberg’s fortune from government payout for unlimited intrusion into everyone’s lives runs dry. So etching a little more private and ant-spam too I might add.

According to FNC: “Licensed firearms retailers can still promote their businesses on Facebook, but they aren’t allowed to accept orders or make sales on the site.”

I have to wonder at what point such a business (website) must consider “common carrier” protection lest they get sued into oblivion for permitting flatly illegal communication content.

You can use it to the benefit of patriots. A FB group started up during the Malheur standoff called Rural Oregon Patriots. They kept people in touch with what was going on in Burns, & sharing where the FBI was acting as ‘protesters’. I also share good articles I find here on FB (& sometimes share articles I see on FB here on FR). Keep spreading the information on every possible venue. Hopefully the right people will see & wake up.

I like Facebook but this is the last place I would sell a gun. There are plenty of sites that are better to sell your gun then Facebook. I actually have never saw a gun sale on Facebook. Obviously they are out there but I have never seen them.
