You uncovered one of the flaws in simply assigning 4 votes per precinct went from Carson, to Cruz.
If persons were supporting Carson rather than Cruz initially, what else is being ignored (while it was being assumed by Rove that Carson's supporters would naturally go to Cruz, fully across the board) is that Carson supporters may, in part, been supportive of Carson as alternative to Cruz whom they may possibly have already not liked.
So I do agree with you also in the beginning portions of the above portion of your comment, quoted above.
From there on, going by the general direction of the remainder of your comments, this thread, and for the last few weeks, we often part company...
And after one, there would logically enough need be dozens of other individuals testifying that The Tweet was what did The Trick, prior to extrapolating those into thousands of voters who switched from Carson, to Cruz.
Meanwhile (while we wait for what will likely never occur) we have here on this forum at least one first-person witness who tells the forum that they heard nary a peep of the Twittering™ that so many have made semi-fake hay out of, trying to get mileage out of it in order to damage Cruz (?) (afaict -- and thus reassure themselves they are correct in not supporting that candidate?).

Rove is a slime ball. I’m a Trump person myself, though barely because I don’t trust any of them. But Rove did not do this to “help” Trump. He’s a creep, and he’s definitely not a conservative, he did this because he’s getting to kill two birds with one stone: Trump and Cruz for the new establishment darlin’, Rubio.
And Cruz has no one to blame but himself since he used Barbour/ Cochran tactics from Mississippi and Trump if he don’t quiet that ego and stop Twitter ranting and move on.
Sorry to say but we, as a nation, have become so illiterate as to not be able to read for ourselves. The net is replete with political memes all subject to cut and paste - truly disgusting.
Not that this would do any good, but here goes: Trump wants private insurance for virtually everyone, with the ability to be competitive across state lines. There, you got that? (No I didn't think so.) For the indigent you have government insurance - which we have now but is poorly run - so it needs a better, more cost efficient system.
What has happened in this translation is that the political pukes, the PACs and the media have lied about this description.
Moreover, Trump's comments about Canada and such is that Canada negotiates the cost of prescription drugs while we pay full price under medicare and medicaid. This costs us billions. This single payer crap and government health insurance for all is a lie. Pure and simple. Trump ain't for it.
Please can we focus on Rubio?

Actually they pretty much hinted he was dropping out. It was released by CNN shortly before voting started.
Cruz's folks grabbed this info and didn't check it thoroughly enough. That was the mistake they made. But they didn't create this out if thin air.
They saw a report by CNN that indicated Carson may be taking a time out. No serious candidate takes a time out; right before an important primary.
Eminent domain, single payer, multiple wives, strip club owner and buffoon with a bad hairpiece... post it, post it again and again. You would think that sooner or later folks would realize the lies and folly in it all. But they don’t. As soon as Cruz drops another slimy venture out pops the circuitous Trump smears. Guess what folks. We’ve seen them all and remain unimpressed.
Ted Cruz apologized to Ben Carson for spreading rumors and Carson gracefully accepted.

Initially he was much calmer about accepting the apology, taking Cruz word that he did not know what the Precinct leaders were doing, but would not have approved, had he known.
Later, as more information became known, he lamented over the dirty tricks typical in Washington Politics, which is why Trump, who is not Old School Washington politics, is also so mad...IMO.
I didn’t say they created it, but they certainly embellished it to their own advantage.
And when CNN clarified the story, Cruz kept going with his own version.
And when Mrs. Carson corrected them at a caucus they still kept going.
That was the problem. Typical dirty politician.
