CNN's broadside of Ted Cruz is wrong. The network has denied that it bears any responsibility for Cruz's camp spreading rumors that Ben Carson might be quitting the presidential race. CNN anchor Brooke Baldwin even went so far as to call Cruz's explanation "BS" on the air.
Yet the network's claim can be true only in the most deceptive - in other words, the most Clintonian - sense. Instead of what the meaning of the word is is, CNN is parsing what the word indicate means.
Somewhat ironically, the network rests much of its case on tweets rather than on-air coverage. CNN concedes that during the Iowa caucuses the network reported that Carson would not be going from Iowa to New Hampshire as the other candidates would. But after Cruz's people used the report as their reason for suggesting Carson might be getting out of the race, CNN on Wednesday declared, "Senator Cruz's claims about CNN are false. At no point did the network indicate Dr. Carson would suspend his campaign."
While their embeds in the field may never have specifically reported that Carson was out, the network's live coverage - which included star anchor and face of CNN Anderson Cooper - not only operated on the assumption that Carson was withdrawing, but actually included speculation of where his voters would go after Carson left the race.
Here's a transcript of this segment of CNN's live Iowa coverage:

The printed word doesn't fully capture the CNN panel's air of incredulity over Carson's stated reason for not going on to New Hampshire. Watching live, it was obvious that the moderator and the panel felt that Carson's campaign was toast.

Don’t pull that naivete condescension crap on me. You’ve gotten entire posts pulled because of your nasty shilling for the cheat Cruz.
Candidates must realize that they are operating in a world of instant communication and speculation is coin of the realm. It’s what the media sells, 24/7.
Every single move has to be filtered through, “What is this going to look like on TV?”
Carson seemed to be living in the world when we waited for the newspaper and Walter Cronkite.
Politics is warfare. If you’re going to play by Marquess of Queensberry rules you will lose. Stop trying to tie the hands of our candidates with restrictive rules of engagement.
Cruz can’t determine the facts after a little media speculation, so how will he deal with Putin and Iran and a world filled with deceivers?
None of them are to be trusted. Period.
Did not answer the question, I see.
Was not aware of pulled posts. Did you placemark them by any chance? You seem interested in stalking me, for some reason

Is there any evidence whatsoever that any would-be Carson voter changed his mind because of information he received inside a caucus from a Cruz representative? Anyone willing to be interviewed that they changed because of this information?
Why is there this assumption that Carson voters are that gullible?
You had an entire thread pulled because of your nasty shilling for Cruz. What kind of ego do you Cruz idiots have that you think people are following you around? I go on whatever thread I choose and respond to any post I want. I wouldn’t follow you with a shovel.
And I don’t need to respond to any question you ask either.
It’s YOUR tag line, not mine.
Are you posting from a boiler room in a St. Petersburg basement, by any chance?
Shouldn’t you be joining, along with Lucy Ricardo, The Friends of the Friendless?
The objective analysis shows on caucus night Team Ted lied, and “principled” died.
CNN Lied. I didn't.
Genuine question here.
Cruz sent out the letter to his folks saying Carson had a big announcement coming up the day after the Iowa vote.
1. On what did he base that?
2. What was the big announcement?
3. Why did Cruz say that?
4. How is CNN responsible for Cruz saying it?
I submit it was a lie by implication. Saying Carson is suspending his campaign and has a big announcement implies he will announce he is dropping out.
Please respond.
It was ALLEGED that he did this ONCE before by a sore loser.
The above was written by Mark Steyn. As a Cruzer, I donated a few bucks after his Iowa win, but as a human being, I had to take a shower.
Ted Cruz is a lawyer politician with as many scruples as any other lawyer politician.
There are NO perfect candidates, which is why I'm a Cruzer first and a Trumpster second. I am ashamed of the weak response by Ted, no balls to smack his own people.
Cruz ran off at the mouth. It’s his own fault for listening to a talking head at CNN instead of verifying it with Carson. This is all on Cruz’ head. He was the only candidate who did this. Evidence of how he operates and it’s not good leadership.
I DO follow the threads I start and the only one pulled was one of a vet who was questioning Palin's mentioning PTSD in relation to her son's alleged criminal behavior.
Back to topic though, people generally ignore questions that a truthful answer to would reveal something they do not want to be revealed. A non answer actually says a lot.
Especially when the anger and bile oozes.
So now we accept what a news organization puts out as fact
without first checking to be sure.
