Auto giant Ford is planning a new assembly plant south of the U.S. border, the Wall Street Journal reported Sunday, and will sharply increase factory output from Mexico just months after signing a labor deal.

Citing people familiar with the matter, The Journal reported that Ford will add half a million units of annual capacity from Mexico starting in 2018, which is double the amount it built in 2015. The new assembly complex will be based in An Luis Potosi, and Ford will expand an existing facility near Mexico City, the publication added.

I read somewhere that these companies pay the medican workers next to nothing. They get no benefits and the factory has a cafeteria on site to keep them at work.

I know that the high corporate income tax is driving these companies out but it still pizzes me off.

“Cool. I’m a free-marketeer. Every dollar I save is a dollar earned. Used to buy “Made in America” exclusively. Never again”

My first three cars: GM, Ford, then GM.

There was some element of patriotism, being a good neighbor. Then they got quotas to limit the freedom of Americans to buy as they please. That wasn’t patriotic, neighborly, or respectful. Now government motors simply uses taxation to reach into my back pocket. I blame the unions primarily, though government regulation and taxation also figure in.

If you want to buy American and get a value, buy from any of the many companies building in right-to-work states.

My Honda van is made in the U.S. with mostly U.S. made parts. On my third Honda with NO problems.

Nissan also builds a lot of vehicles in the U.S.A. My brother-in-law bought a Ford the same year (2000) I bought a Nissan. About the same price, but mine has many more features. Now over fifteen years later, his Ford transmission failed and he has other problems. My Nissan has twice the mileage but never had any problems and runs like new. I don't think he'll buy another Ford.

Obama keeps importing his anti- American islamonazi invaders while he exports our jobs. Not a good deal - not by a long shot.

Then, when the auto industry sees another slow-down, the Mexican production facilities will keep running, the US plants will be idled back with layoffs...

Will he tariff all of the VWs, Nissans, Chryslers, and GM cars that are built in Mexico? And all of the cars that are made in Canada?

Since Labor costs are only 20% of Cars Manufactured here, why do those Cars cost the same as Cars Manufactured here?

I had a Chrysler PT Cruiser that was built in Mexico and I drive a Dodge Challenger that was built in Canada. Heck, they even Manufacture Cadillac CUV’s down there.

Meanwhile, my Wife drives a Kia Optima that was built in North Carolina. I’m so confused. LOL

>>>Too bad he can’t put a tariff on all the hotels and golf courses he has overseas<<<

You realize that your comment makes absolutely no sense, right?

Those properties produce Income benefitting an American Company and have not exported American Jobs. The Money is flowing in to America, not out of America.

The Toyota Camry is supposedly the most American-made car in terms of total content sourcing, edging out the Ford F-150 pick up. They're both at about 75 percent US sourced content.

Supposedly, when Tesla gets their Nevada Gigafactory battery plant on line their model S U.S. content will hit 90 percent.
