Will they Cruzify Ted?
The Spectator ^ | 2/11/16 | David Flint

Posted on 02/11/2016 4:42:57 AM PST by TBBT

The progressive elites will try to do to Cruz what they did to Abbott

The American mainstream media, the Republican Party establishment and the Democratic Party are determined that Ted Cruz not be sworn in as the 45th president.

Anyone with that opposition must be formidable.

That he is. Campaigning against Federal ethanol subsidies in Iowa, a major corn producing state, and against all poll predictions, Cruz defeated the media's favourite, Donald Trump, receiving more votes than any Republican candidate ever had. Cruz is the candidate most motivated by his attachment to traditional American principles. For his opponents, these are principles to which lip service only should be accorded these days. But the principles under which a Cruz administration would operate are the very ones on which the American Republic was founded.

Cruz does not merely mouth the proposition that all men have been endowed by their Creator with certain inalienable rights, he lives by this. As Texas Solicitor General he had been one of America's most successful public constitutional lawyers, with a string of successes in the Supreme Court. Having memorised it while still a schoolboy, the Constitution remains his guide to the good governance of the Union. By this he means the Constitution according to the original intention of the Founding Fathers, not that fictional 'living organism' which is the tool of activist judges who claim it means whatever they want it to mean.

Please explain what “Carson crap” means.

That is just the media trying to manufacture dirt on
Ted.

Arguing that Carson was not a serious candidate is what I call a legitimate, indeed, necessary part of any election. There is no real deceit to say Carson must be getting out because his eccentric manner of going home together with his poor showing in a state favorable to his candidacy. Carson stays in to grab a little more attention to sell books and boost his opportunities on the lecture circuit or tv commentating game.

Trump and Carson have made a mountain out of molehill and have only convinced me they are petty whiners. I will listen if you have facts that can rebut.

He faithfully reported what he heard on CNN.

The Cruz people faithfully reported idle speculation that they heard on CNN as fact, without suspicion or even curiosity given CNN's history of bias. They saw an opportunity to grab some votes on the cheap, and they thought they could get away with it.

By that logic, if winning elections is your thing then Obama is your guy.

Well Rush clearly said yesterday if conservatism is your thing Cruz is your guy. Levin ripped Trump yesterday for being a hair to the right of Bernie.

Rush is trying to hedge his bets in an effort to remain relevant. Levin has devolved into a shill for Ted and seems to want to torpedo his show.

In short, nobody cares what these guys say anymore.

Duh. NH is a progressive state. Trump is a progressive.

Trump is anti- property rights. He’s for the government seizing the property of citizens, not just for public works, but for casinos and parking lots for limos.

Trump is pro-amnesty. (via touchback) Deport them and then let them right back in. What’s up with that?

Trump is a big government Democrat turned Republican. He is pro- single payer heaalthcare system run by the federal government. Hello, that’s socialized medicine.

Trump is a crony corporatist.

Trump says Hillary is evil. Trump supported and donated to Hillary. Therefore Trump, by his own admission, facilitated evil.

These things alone should be enough to lead conservatives to oppose Trump. But cultists are unable and/or unwilling to listen to reason. Dear leader has no clothes, but when the Trumpsheep look at him, they can’t see the ravenous wolf. They see another sheep, just a louder, fatter one.

The stupid. It burns for The Donald.

Thats actually pretty funny line. We here do not have to wait for the progressive elites to crucify Cruz.

Just open Free Republic and read conservatives crucify Cruz every day.

I don't know if the man can win the General or not, not sure I understand why he supports TPP. No matter, What he has already accomplished, 100 times more than most here who bad mouth him. Yeah I know, easier to destroy than to lift up and move good ideals forward.

But of course conservative LOVE to eat their own. So why should Cruz be any different. Hey Kilroy . . . we have met the enemy . . . it is us!

You’re welcome to go to FR’s Iowa Forum (through ‘Account’ and ‘My Locale’) and read what a number of caucus attendees report about their Iowa caucus experience.

Something done against a person you don’t care for being a nothing burger sounds like a Democrat thing to say. Wrong is wrong period whether done against Carson, Cruz or Trump. I hate super PACs because almost nameless people can distort information.

The tendency of Cruz supporters who claim that they and he are Christian to excuse anything his campaign does as being ok is disturbed. Excuses made for Trump errors are wrong but his supporter don’t hide behind it being a Christian thing when he is wrong. And most Trump supporters are not trying to use decades old information as being current on Cruz.

“The American mainstream media,”?

There is nothing “mainstream” about this media.

The more accurate term is “THE CORRUPT LIBERAL MEDIA”

“CORRUPT” being the operative word.

Oh yeah. He’s AWESOME. He builds amazing things like Trump University to scam people out of their money. Or casinos that go belly up. Or a whole web of lies about what a conservative he really is.

Yeah, he builds things all right.

This is the original Spectator, which has an enormously long publication history in the U.K. I remember using quotes from The Spectator in college English papers.

Like David Duke was formidable! LOL I mean, just because certain factions object to Cruz, does not make Cruz a "good choice" or "formidable." Not saying Cruz is like David Duke, just that an argument that a person is a "good choice" or "formidable" doesn't work just by pointing to a set of objectors.
