Will they Cruzify Ted?
The Spectator ^ | 2/11/16 | David Flint

Posted on 02/11/2016 4:42:57 AM PST by TBBT

The progressive elites will try to do to Cruz what they did to Abbott

The American mainstream media, the Republican Party establishment and the Democratic Party are determined that Ted Cruz not be sworn in as the 45th president.

Anyone with that opposition must be formidable.

That he is. Campaigning against Federal ethanol subsidies in Iowa, a major corn producing state, and against all poll predictions, Cruz defeated the media's favourite, Donald Trump, receiving more votes than any Republican candidate ever had. Cruz is the candidate most motivated by his attachment to traditional American principles. For his opponents, these are principles to which lip service only should be accorded these days. But the principles under which a Cruz administration would operate are the very ones on which the American Republic was founded.

Cruz does not merely mouth the proposition that all men have been endowed by their Creator with certain inalienable rights, he lives by this. As Texas Solicitor General he had been one of America's most successful public constitutional lawyers, with a string of successes in the Supreme Court. Having memorised it while still a schoolboy, the Constitution remains his guide to the good governance of the Union. By this he means the Constitution according to the original intention of the Founding Fathers, not that fictional 'living organism' which is the tool of activist judges who claim it means whatever they want it to mean.

Bringing up crucifiction in defence if Ted is literally offensive.

Ted Cruz is not Jesus Christ, and citizens not preferring him does not make him a sacrificial lamb.

At what point does the absurdity become over the top even to a Cruz supporter, or is that even possible?

Forget the progressives. The President Camacho wing of the Republican party is doing a fine job over here.

Ted Cruz has done his homework, he's advocates for conservative, free market principles and he understands the issues.

Watch how Ted Cruz explains to an angry farmer, who eventually quiets down to listen, how he is going to help farmers.

All subsidies - across the board - oil, gas, wind, solar, ethanol are gone; EPA fuel blend, gone.

Death tax, gone.

Happy Iowan: How Cruz "Crushed" Ethanol [and helps farmers] - "Hot d*mn!" a gentleman shouted from the back of the room. Feb 3rd FR THREAD

The "President Camacho" wing of the Republican Party...

And which one is that? We are already into our eighth year of President Camacho.

I assume you don't mean Trump. Trump BUILDS things, has intelligent and successful children who contribute to society, and comes up with solutions to things.

Being Christian and not afraid to be open about it is an asset - being some single-topic zealot is - zealotry.

Cruz ain't Christ and Trump ain't Satan.

The author is not equating Cruz with Christ. You know perfectly well that we use the term “crucify” to describe a person who is being persecuted, severely attached, thrown under the bus etc.

That is absurd.

After Iowa we were told “Put on your big boys pants”. If you can’t take the heat get out of the kitchen.

Trump got 3 times the vote in New Hampshire.

Cruz had a whopping 200 people at his Myrtle Beach rally yesterday.

While Trump has thousands in Pendleton SC.

But I will say the Super Pac's have gone after Cruz with non stop commercials. Showing all of Cruz's lies on Immigrations B-1 Visas and Eminent Domain he supported in Senate Debate

Well Rush clearly said yesterday if conservatism is your thing Cruz is your guy. Levin ripped Trump yesterday for being a hair to the right of Bernie. They both called the Carson riff a nothing burger.

It’s a play on words “Cruzify”. A joke. No one thinks he’s Jesus. Lot’s of people get crucified who aren’the Jesus. In fact, it’s happening in the ME today.

Trump supporters are so easily offended when conservatives are praised. Why so?

Laughing again. Cruz is the only candidate in the race with conservative principles he lives by. But I guess Rush clearly saying so yesterday clearly means he is now establishment.
In the meantime Trump has proved his Christianity is limited to holding an unread Bible.
