Sen. Patrick Leahy (D-Vt.), ranking member of the Senate Judiciary Committee, predicted on Sunday that if Republicans block President Barack Obama's nomination to replace the late Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia, voters will give Democrats a majority in the Senate in the next election.

"I think what we ought to do is nominate somebody," Leahy told Dana Bash on CNN's "State of the Union" show, one day after the death of Scalia at age 79.

"If the Republican leadership refuses to even hold a hearing, I think that is going to guarantee they lose control of the Senate, because I don't think the American people will stand for that. They want us to do our job," Leahy said. "They can see us doing recess after recess, time off all year long." ...

How do we get Leaky to lose his job? 41 years is way too long.

And the Republican base believes they will lose the Senate if they don’t block it. I wonder who’s more important?

They’re just keeping the other half of the Uniparty “on message” after all.

Republicans should hold hearings on any Obama nominee. Very extensive hearings. And then find reasons for rejection. Or for eternally extended requests for more information. I would focus particularly on the explicit litmus test that any such nominee would have taken, and about which he will by lying when he testifies.

Pick your issue(s). Republicans should not engage in borking, but they should, in a civil and politically compelling way, demonstrate that Obama's pick is constitutionally unsound.

No need to “Bork” when it comes to liberal nominees. Despite abuse of the phrase of late, the truth still has no agenda.

But personally, I have no faith in a GOP “majority” that rubber-stamps a $4.1 trillion “budget” among other collusions.

The Republicans control the Senate?

When did this happen?

Actually it’s one of the only things that the GOP has done that’s good for The People lately. If they didn’t block it The People would have lost complete faith and trust in them and their party would be up against the ropes as their numbers dropped to record lows all across the nation. The party would exist in name only from then on until non-PC with balls leaders took hold of the party again.

Obama has a problem. He wants Lynch. If he nominates her and she refuses to indict Hillary despite an FBI calling for one, Lynch cannot possibly have any credibility in upholding the law over politics.

Lose the Senate? So what? We haven’t used it anyway.

If we don’t use the Senate for this, then what do we use it for? If not now, when? If not us, who?

Mitch has survived long enough to have one more chance to stand for the right and light against the left and darkness.
HE doesn’t deserve to salvage his reputation through doing the right thing, but our country DOES!

For me, this is the final straw.

If the GOP does not grow a pair and delay until after inauguration day confirmation of any SC nominee, I’ll join the long line of those who have quit the Party due to their weakness and collaboration.

“The party would exist in name only from then on until non-PC with balls leaders took hold of the party again.”

The GOP is done as a party if they don’t keep their word on blocking Obama’s nomination.
