Obama to skip Scalia funeral

President Barack Obama will not attend Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia’s funeral on Saturday, the White House said Wednesday. Vice President Joe Biden and his wife Jill Biden will attend. Obama and first lady Michelle Obama instead will go to the Supreme Court on Friday “to pay their respects to Justice Scalia” while the justice lies in repose in the Great Hall, press secretary Josh Earnest told reporters Wednesday.

My first thought. The evil ones know the Catholic Church better than the lukewarm ones

Well just like all justices die, all presidents die too. When one particular president assumes room temperature people will probably show up enmasse in red hats and red dresses to pay their disrespects.

https://coffeeandablankpage.com/2014/11/16/red-dresses/

My inspiration at that moment had been Cher’s character in Moonstruck as she hurls insults across the breakfast table: “Someday you’ll drop dead and I’ll come to your funeral in a red dress!” In this cliched form, the red dress symbolizes disrespect. A posthumous victory. She who laughs last... does so in blood-colored taffeta.

It is forbidden for a Muslim to attend the funeral of a non-Muslim

It is not permissible for a Muslim to attend the funeral of a non-Muslim even if it is a relative, because attending a funeral is a right that one Muslim has over another and it is a kind of showing respect, honour and friendship that it is not permissible to show to a kaafir.

Abu Taalib, the paternal uncle of the Prophet (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) died, and he instructed ‘Ali to bury him, but the Prophet (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) did not attend his funeral or his burial, even though Abu Taalib’s support and defence of the Prophet (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) was well known, and even though the Prophet (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) felt a great deal of compassion and mercy towards him. Nothing stopped him from doing that except the fact that Abu Taalib died in a state of kufr. In fact the Prophet (blessings and peace of Allah be upon him) said: “I shall certainly pray for forgiveness for you so long as I am not forbidden to do so.” Then the words were revealed (interpretation of the meaning): “It is not (proper) for the Prophet and those who believe to ask Allaah’s forgiveness for the Mushrikoon, even though they be of kin, after it has become clear to them that they are the dwellers of the Fire (because they died in a state of disbelief)” [al-Tawbah 9:113] and: “Verily, you (O Muhammad) guide not whom you like,” [al-Qasas 28:56].

Wrong. Leftists are spoiled children. Morality to them is relative. Always circumstantial.

Trump is correct to plow through and not care what they say

I had one of them on the phone tge other day. One who calls herself Catholic

I asked rhetorically why didn’t the family want an autopsy

So fast it would curl your hair she said maybe it’s against their religion

They spend their lives rationalizing and making up insane rules.

No Conservatives are always held to an impossible made up standard while leftist America destroyers are let off for every infraction.

Count on it

I do hope O will be held to account for all of his deeds.

You don't need hope, you just need faith in God's eternal justice.

Calling history buffs. Who was the last president to skip the funeral of a sitting SCOTUS Justice?

I don't know about sitting, but according to another article, Clinton didn't attend a couple of funerals for former Justices:

Four out of the past seven funerals for a Supreme Court justice have either had the president or vice president in attendance.

Former President George W. Bush attended the funeral for Chief Justice William Rehnquist.

Former President Bill Clinton attended the funerals for former Chief Justice Warren E. Burger and Justice William Brennan but did not attend the funerals for Justices Harry Blackmun or Lewis F. Powell Jr.

Former Vice President Al Gore attended the funeral for Justice Thurgood Marshall.

Before that, I don't know. I could not imagine Reagan not attending one, but haven't done the research to verify one way or the other.

Kinda hard to show up at the funeral of a guy you had whacked to preserve your evil legacy.

I can't write it. . . What a disgrace.

At least the new President will respect the Office of the Presidency. Man, this last 7 years has been really difficult to get through. It will take several generations to correct this.

Fight for America! November 8, 2016!

you have to go back to 1953 or 1954 and I have no idea if Eisenhower attended those.

Can't you just go to his Facebook page and see if he checked in to the funeral?

Good...why ruin the service with his presence.
Bingo! If it was my funeral I wouldn't want that pr$ck within 100 miles of the service. If I was in the family, I would make sure that he was not invited to attend, and publicize it, to make sure that all knew.

"Obama and first lady Michelle Obama instead will go to the Supreme Court on Friday to pay their respects to Justice Scalia while the justice lies in repose in the Great Hall..."

Gee, I wonder what Moochie will wear. Will she try to imitate Jackie Kennedy with a black lace mantilla, or will she wear one of her disgusting outfits that will make everyone puke? She's such a fashion icon you know.

BarbM I was so full of grief with Scallia passing, there are some people that can NEVER be replaced he was one, Reagan was another! We all keep looking for that special person but there just is no one to compare to either of these two! It is a very sad time indeed as the people from the generation leave us we are left knowing they ARE irreplaceable and we long for the time this type of person seemed to be in abundance !!!! The men of that era were STRONG and also humorus!!!!
