We need to stop conflating illegal immigrants with legal immigrants. Those are separate issues and should be discussed separately.
As for race, I don’t care. Government should be as indifferent to race as all sensible people are. It’s time to move on and to judge people by the content of their character and not by the color of their skin.

The National Academies of Sciences deflated most of the myths in a definitive report last year. Today’s immigrants are more educated and better English speakers than their predecessors, and they are far less likely to commit a crime compared to the native-born. They are quickly becoming part of American communities.
To state that an uneducated Muslim refugee or an illegal fleeing Guatemala is less likely to commit a crime than a native born American is the pinnacle of ignorance.

Amen to that. I am pure mutt caucasian, but my children are chinese, and I love them passionately (and they return that love in spades). I also will not fill out those racist forms and I have instructed my children to not fill them out either.
