I’m in a mixed marriage. I’m white and my wife is Brazilian, third generation American born and raised in Alabama. Her family came here legally, and they all can’t stand the line jumping illegals.

This article is kind of BS, from what I’ve read. It seems to suggest that anyone who is against illegal immigration thinks no immigrants assimilate. In my experience, the legal immigrants do. It’s the people who don’t speak English or pay taxes or any of that crap that congregate in “Little Mexicos” in every city that don’t, and they give immigrants who are proud to become Americans a bad name.

And when you think about it, it all makes sense. Those who immigrate legally probably have a high likelihood of assimilating and blending well into society. That is, they probably begin their perspective with a respect for the rule of law, self-reliance, hard work, etc.

On the other hand, those who come here illegally and under the cloak of night are probably much more likely not to respect societal values or the rule of law. Their frame of reference is that they can do what they want as long as they remain in the shadows. These people have little interest in contributing to society. They are more interested in selfish pursuits and grabbing what they can get. Of course, the Democrat Party appeals greatly to them to enhance their cover and pledge more free stuff from others to them.
