John Heinlein didn't think he was being a hero. But he didn't think he was the bad guy, either.

But it sure seemed that way to the North Bergen man who was shocked at the reaction he received for reporting an unattended bag on a bus that was traveling from South Carolina to Manhattan earlier this month.

Heinlein, 47, said he had a difficult time getting police to respond, and after the bus was stopped and evacuated near the Holland Tunnel, other passengers aimed their anger at him, he said.

Sounds like a smuggling ring has been tipped off to the police. I wonder how many other unattended bags make it tot he city to be claimed at the destination. Big money to be made on the black market given the NYC taxes on smokes.

I think it’s gotten so bad that people don’t care whether they live or die.

The See Something Say Something program is about tearing people apart, eroding trust amongst family and neighbors. It is not about identifying terrorists.

So much for Christie’s vaunted New Jersey govt efficiency.

I’ll put my trust in New York Police/PA guys any day.

New Jersey is for passing through, like a bad piece of meat.

A few years back my wife saw three muslims going around in the produce section of a grocery store touching all the fruits and vegetables but not buying anything. She reported it to management and to a cop and nothing was done.

That’s bizarre, were they testing if anybody would notice if they injected something into the produce, or maybe there was a shortage of infidel women to fondle that day.

My wife and I were in London’s Gatwick airport in December of 2001, about 3 months after 9/11. In the passenger waiting area we noticed an unattended bag and reported it to the security desk. Basically, they said, “So what?”

Sigh. OK we thought, don’t do anything but we’re going to sit waaaaaaaaaaaaay away from that thing. About an hour later we noticed the bag was gone, but we didn’t see who took it. As far as we know no bomb was found, but if it had been a bomb and exploded it would’ve killed perhaps 100 people.

The name struck me too - recently picked up some old paperbacks of Heinlein and Asimov in a bookshop - I'm sure I rad them many years ago, but the nostalgia factor set in - feels like revisiting with old friends and finding things still comfortable.
