I'M A MONTHLY DONOR TO OUR FORUM. I AM SO THANKFUL FOR IT.
Over the years I've met many many great friends here.
We've been though some rocky times with Obama. Everyday it seemed and still seems that there is something about the man, to make your eyes roll and your stomach hurt, and with his administration to the point that when you think you've seen and heard it all, there's something new that makes you ashamed.
I've watched our country through this man, go down the tubes in ways I thought not possible. It's gotten to the point that I can sum up his presidency in one word.
MEDIOCRITY
The idea that someone may once again come into the office, like Reagan did, who can change things around excites me to no end, but all of sudden people who were my friends with a common cause, like CW, and 1st Division... and others seem to be our enemies.
You're not.
We will unite after this is over we must, because in the final analysis we will have a candidate who shares our pride and OUR convictions in a free capitalistic society to debate the other side that totes socialism.
Young people need to hear this debate loud and clear.
It is then that we here will again come together.
SO, IN THIS SPIRIT, I’M DONATING $100 TO FR IN HONOR OF JUDGE ANTON SCALIA, A TRUE AMERICAN AND PATRIOT. THANK YOU FOR WATCHING OVER US and SECONDLY WITH THE HOPE THAT ALL OF US ON FR WILL COALESCE AND SUPPORT THE REPUBLICAN CANDIDATE WHOMEVER IT WILL BE AND BE CLOSE FRIENDS AGAIN, AND LASTLY IN THE MEMORY OF MY OLDEST SON, ANDY, WHO DIED A YEAR AGO. I THINK ABOUT YOU EVERY DAY.
I will join you Nik. Am already a monthly donor and member of 300 club but to show our love and respect for the great conservative Justice can see no better tribute than to donate a bit extra to the memory of Justice Antonin Scalia. God rest his soul!
In coming Jim!
As some of us get tax refunds, consider donating a part of it to keep this forum alive please.
Good idea Bob. Thanks
This is NOT a political thread. It’s a memorial thread. What poor taste you have.
"The Court must be living in another world. Day by day, case by case,
it is busy designing a Constitution for a country I do not recognize."Supreme Court Justice Antonin Scalia
Wabaunsee County v. Umber,
518 U.S. 668 (1996) (dissenting)
Nice! :)
Funny, I have seen nothing but poor taste on this site for the last 2 months.
Sorry you feel this way. It is really crazy here now but give it time and remember we’re on the same team. You’re thoughts are always appreciated by me. Have a nice day Bill.
Take it up with Jim and the moderators or just leave.
Did you dilute it with good taste or were you a contributor?
Beautiful. Thank you, monkapotamus.
In 1831, Mexican authorities gave the settlers of Gonzales a small cannon to help protect them from frequent Comanche raids. Over the next four years, the political situation in Mexico deteriorated, and in 1835 several states revolted. As the unrest spread, Colonel Domingo de Ugartechea, the commander of all Mexican troops in Texas, felt it unwise to leave the residents of Gonzales with a weapon and requested the return of the cannon.
When the initial request was refused, Ugartechea sent 100 dragoons to retrieve the cannon. The soldiers neared Gonzales on September 29, but the colonists used a variety of excuses to keep them from the town, while secretly sending messengers to request assistance from nearby communities. Within two days, up to 140 Texians gathered in Gonzales, all determined not to give up the cannon. On October 1, settlers voted to initiate a fight. Mexican soldiers opened fire as Texians approached their camp in the early hours of October 2. After several hours of desultory firing, the Mexican soldiers withdrew.[1]
The Gonzales Flag is still flown in Texas, and specifically at the Texas Cowboy Memorial Shoot.
cool!
Thank you Monk. Father Paul did an excellent job. His father certainly shown through him today. Both of them!
I never knew about that part of Texas history. Thank you, humblegunner!
