A President has enormous power to manage the executive branch. Have you not seen what Obama has been able to do even while having a Republican Congress?
Congress will pass any policy they agree with the President on. It is silly to think that Trump would have a better chance of passing the exact same policy than Cruz would. Trump has a lower approval rating than Cruz nationwide, so he will have a harder time getting the public support which is necessary to make Congress change their mind. I agree that Trump is more likely to pass liberal policy than Cruz would, which would get more Congressional support. That’s why I’m for Cruz. I’d rather nothing get passed than something liberal. Cruz would block a Democrat Congress while Trump would probably work with them and then tell us all he “got a great deal.”
If Republicans brought in 11 million illegals who voted Republican the brain dead press would notice it...

An illegal immigrant or unvetted terrorist refugee could come to their house and rape their daughters, but they are above accepting a changed point of view from a courageous man who is not afraid to look a changed reality in the eye and say, "It's time to accept that things have changed, and do something to protect ourselves and our children."
No, THAT man is a past adulterer, so the purist is much too good to accept his foresight, advice or help.
There were many reasons to oppose amnesty that didn’t involve rape or terrorism. Cruz understood them when he voted against Gang of 8. Rubio and Trump didn’t when they supported amnesty at the same time.
We disagree at the level of 'prediction of who will actually intend what' and also at the level of 'who's policies as they will be presented by that individual in a persuasive format will enough Americans rally behind over the next 8 years to pressure congress to enact them.'
I believe Trump has a far stronger record of persuasion and deal making and producing results. I believe none of the issues on which he's soft represent deal breakers given the nature of the crisis we face, which is 'the existence of America." I believe the grid lock you say you'd prefer over liberal legislation is equal to death ... so the risk of not-my-favorite legislation is not a primary concern ... that is, there is an asteroid 200 miles from the earth, rushing towards us, and to accomplish only that we don't increase its mass is equivalent to death.
I have no problem acknowledging Trump's not-perfects.
You believe that based on American approval ratings today that tomorrow Trump will be hobbled.
I disagree, Look at Trump's numbers before he started going to work on this nomination.
Now, on these points, neither of us, at this moment, can claim to predict the future. But each of us have taken reasoned positions, and to arrive at a conclusion, we are forced to combine our experience and intuition and fill in the blanks and make an informed prediction about future events. You believe Cruz will be affective, and if not, that we can afford Grid Lock. I believe Trump will be effective and that we can't afford Grid Lock.
That's where most Trump supporters stand. We are not lost on Trump's imperfections. Hopefully you are not lost on Cruz's. I like Cruz, but he's got a lot of problems too - he doesn't inspire regular American's, he's dry and smarmy to listen to. I love the guy, and yet that's what I pick up. Your argument for him moving American's to move Congress is essentially that 'today's polls say people hate him less'. That's not going to change what has to change.
So we disagree on these things, but enough with the clown stuff! You'd be far more effective arguing that Cruz CAN move America rather than calling us clowns, which I assume means stupid and unserious, not well read, blind to the facts. I'd be willing to bet the Trump wing of the site on average is those with more business experience and the realities of actually getting stuff done. We care about doctrine, be we get that doctrine is not a suicide note, and that you divert from it so long as you know why you are diverting and that you plan to stay close, and why that doctrine is insufficient for the current problem. Cruz we see as insufficient. (Some hate him or proclaim to, I don't think they really do ... I think they are just reflecting the name calling coming from both sides - i.e. 'clown' which is a popular and hence totally ineffective one.)
I am of the 'Trump for 8, THEN Cruz for 8' once America gets to know he's not just a smarmy car salesman, which is the response to him I most hear from both sides.
