Its none of my business but the heck was she doing in Dubai??
RIP
That’s my biggest question too. Why go to a country where they have more of the same kind of people who carried out that attack.
Is there more to this story?
Here’s the local news with a few more details. Looks like she was on her way to Bali with her best friend. 4 people in a 2 person Ferrari, late at night and going fast. No matter what the reason, tragic and sad. God bless her and the others

Dubai Car Crash
There arent any known details as to what Victoria and her fellow Northeastern student were in Dubai, but the University did say that the two were on a personal trip and not studying. Unfortunately we dont have any other details as to the car crash itself, but GulfNews did report that there was a multi-vehicle crash that killed 18 people.
Dubai has turned into this major hub for European flights. Etihad Airlines operate primarily out of the area. Lots of Europeans will have some end-point in Asia or Australia...but will stop in for two or three days in Dubai to do shopping or six-star hotel stays.
Here is the other story from the Emirates 247 news with a few more details:
A lot of Europeans love Dubai. We have some friends from the UK who honeymooned there. They loved it.
One possibility is simply tourism. Dubai is a travel hub between Europe and Asia and has cultivated an open atmosphere for foreign visitors. There are bars, nightclubs, and entertainment that make Las Vegas seem low rent. It’s unlike any other city in the region. The other place in the region worth visiting for a foreigner would be Muscat, Oman. It’s like stepping into a 1930’s Arabian adventure film.
I know dozens of people who have been over there for one reason or another. And some of them are (gasp!) white women.
I'm not sure what "hit a pavement" means. At least we know that alcohol couldn't possibly have been involved since it happened in Dubai (?).
Somewhat puzzling is how anyone could fit 4 people into a Ferrari 458 Spider. It looks like it was an unfortunate and avoidable tragedy in any case.
I’m sure ... but the last place I would ever go if a victim of islamist terrorism, would be an islamic state ... unless I was covert CIA or something.
Yep. It's mid-egine, with engine right behind the two seats. Not even a package shelf. I'd guess they were 'riding', if the car is even identified correctly.
Brits use 'pavement' where we say 'sidewalk'.
We in America DO have some inane laws, but "qualifying" to drive is one I agree with.
God only knows what is demanded of a driver in other countries.
Look at our own illegal Mexican fatality and accident rates here in the US
Dubai is a major layover spot. I have never been there, but I know lots of folks who go there for conferences and what-not. It seems to be the place where Americans and Europeans meet with their counterparts from SE Aia and Central Asia.
Not a place most people would think of going on vacations, but it seems to be the place to go when working in a global economy.
And Dubai is a long shot from SA. C
Actually, alcohol could be involved as all the Western hotels and restaurants serve it. The picture in this morning’s paper showed the car cut in half. Agree on the tragedy part.
