Trump would probably do better than Romney cause Obama’s not the dem candidate, only reason, I don’t think there’s any particular home state love for Shillery here. I don’t see him matching Dubya’s 44.48% though. He’d be much too busy trying to hold on to North Carolina and win Florida to be expending special effort to win Illinois beyond spamming us with TV ads which I suppose he could do.
Hopefully I won’t see him on the general election ballot at all. Polls show Cruz is a stronger candidate as any Cruz backer should be well aware of.
I agree with you on Rubio, he dallies with shamesty and people OD on haterade and suddenly he’s Ted Kennedy. Trump promises an implausible wall that he damn well knows isn’t going to happen and suddenly he’s Reagan and we’re supposed to forget how he funded democrats including the witch he wants to run against.
Rubs is demonstrably a lot more conservative than Trump (and David Jolly). Based on his wall nonsense and constant shifting positions, I don’t trust Trump on immigration any more than I trust Rubio, PUSH. Rubs is a bit neocony for my taste but Trump is dangerously unqualified on foreign policy, another push. On most other issues, it’s no contest.
And yes Cruz and Rubs have crossover voter bases. Rubs has both conservative and “establishment” support but was not the first choice of either camp. Rubs supporters would divide between Cruz and Kasich if he quit, more to Cruz I think because of the state of the race, pragmatism.
Cruz doesn’t want Rubio out cause he thinks it would HURT him if that happened.
They should have said, if it looks like a DUCKworth, walks like a... Oh never mind.
Bubbles fooled a lot of people. Unfortunately, the alternative was the Orange Menace, and he was doing an even poorer job at covering his agenda.
