Trump makes inroads with megadonors
Politico ^ | 10 Mar 2016 | Kenneth P. Vogel

The GOP’s biggest donors are mostly united in their distaste for the party’s presidential front-runner Donald Trump, but they increasingly are coming to grips with the prospect of his nomination, and many are now signaling they would support him in a general election.

The shift, detailed in interviews with a dozen major donors and their representatives, is less an indication that the party’s donor class is warming to Trump, and more a reflection of their disdain for Democratic presidential front-runner Hillary Clinton.

Their willingness to rally in opposition to Clinton should tamp down concerns on the right that the lingering unease with Trump would mean a free pass for Clinton from big-money attacks in a prospective general election matchup with Trump.

“If it were Trump vs. Hillary, I would have to give to Trump. And I would kind of hold my nose doing it, but I would have to do it,” said Minnesota billionaire Stan Hubbard, adding that he’d prefer that the GOP nominate either Ohio Gov. John Kasich or Texas Sen. Ted Cruz. Hubbard ― whose family donated more than $100,000 to committees supporting Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker’s GOP presidential campaign before eventually siding with Kasich ― has donated at least $10,000 to an anti-Trump super PAC.

“Although Trump’s not my first choice, I’d have to do what I can [to] support him, and hope he’d have more sense than he’s shown so far, because I certainly would never go for Sanders, and Clinton kind of scares me,” said Hubbard. “I think many donors feel that way, and I’ve heard

Among the major donors who told POLITICO that they would support Trump ― or oppose Clinton ― in a Trump-versus-Clinton matchup are Hubbard, T. Boone Pickens, Toby Neugebauer and Dan Eberhart.

Neugebauer, an energy investor who has played a key role in boosting Cruz, chastised the Republican establishment for its big-money assault on Trump, which he says misrepresents Trump and minimizes his appeal to alienated middle-class voters. And he predicted they’d be doing the same thing to Cruz if the Texas senator, who is also despised by the GOP establishment, were he the front-runner....................Big money wants to impose their puppet on the voters...

So, if Trump gets these “Major Donors” on his side in the general election. Doesn’t that mean he would be bought and paid for? Or is that only specific to those who aren’t billionaires?

If/when Trump wants these people’s support all he has to do is fly them to Mar-A-Lago for a weekend. He can make that deal with half his brain tied behind his back, to quote a popular pundit.

Looks like the non-self-funding portion is about to go up even higher. We already know the illegals aren't gettin deported. At this point I'm starting to doubt the wall's even going to happen. Flip-flop, flip-flop...

Just wondering if the Trumpsters are going to be satisfied after Trump stops self-funding, doesn’t ban Muslims, doesn’t deport illegals, expands H-1Bs, and maybe doesn’t even build the wall. Are they finally going to understand how a con artist (or a glorified used car salesman) operates?

Uh-huh, and what are these mega-donors going to ask for in return for the funding? I’ve been told time and again by Trump and his supporters that we need him because he hasn’t been bought and paid for by the donor class. He’s supposed to be beholden to the people, not the wealthy donors.

The funny little man behind the Wizard of Oz is continuing to be revealed.

He is owned, or tied to an influence, just to a much lesser degree. At this stage of the campaign, with Trump edging closer to being the nominee, I don’t hold that against him.
Organizations tend to throw money at what looks like a winner. Trump has already established himself as a central player, and done this by using either his own money or better still, excepting the free advertising of network publicity.

Because in 2012 he was against deportation (see video below) and in the press conference recently when asked if deportation was negotiable he said “at this point, no.” He didn’t say “at this point” when talking about if the wall was negotiable. The implication is clear and unmistakable. Deportation on a mass scale ain’t going to happen. It is clear there will be legalization given to some illegals who are here without them needing to leave the country first.
