No one would ever assault with a MAC-10 plus it fails to meet the definition (MAC-10 shoots 9mm or .45ACP, not an intermediate cartridge like 5.56mm). In full auto, it’s a sub machine gun. As a semi-auto, it’s nothing but a big pistol.

A big unbalanced oversized pistol. Add a 16 inch shrouded barrel to it, a fixed stock and it becomes a well balanced short rifle. Better balanced than a Thompson.
