No plausible opposition to Goldwater. There was Rockefeller,Scranton and Romney the Eastern Liberal Establishment. It was ugly. I worked for Barry. Not a good time.
You forgot Henry Cabot Lodge. Jr., peeking out from behind the curtain. MA people once idolized the Lodges, but that ended as early as 1952!
