An op-ed penned this month by Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump and published online appears to be blatantly plagiarized from an article written days earlier under former rival Ben Carsons name, The Daily Caller has determined.
The similar op-eds were written on the topic of Americas territories and commonwealths.
Both pieces appear under the by-lines of the candidates. Carsons piece, published Feb. 26, was published in the Marianas Variety in the Northern Mariana Islands.
Trumps op-ed published in the Pacific Daily News in Guam, part of the USA Today Network was published 12 days later on March 9.

Well, Carson now endorses Trump, and may be an adviser.
Carson has already said he will have a place in a Trump administration. It looks more like Cooperation than Plagiarism to me.
If Carson doesn’t care this is no big deal
Yeah But.....
sounds like Jason Osborne is pretty lazy
If Carson told Trump to use the article, then it’s ok...
Like I used to tell my kids: no ifs, ands, or yeah buts!
It would still need attribution.
I sincerily doubt Trump was turning the paper in for a grade.
I expect by the end of today we’ll hear that Trump isn’t overly fond of kittens.
10:1 Odds if I gave ‘Alex Pappas’ forged documents tying DT to child pedophilia, he would run with it.
We weren’t really expecting any developed policy from Trump were we?
Being able to point to a problem and believing you can negotiate to a “solution” without understanding how things really work is doomed to failure.
Maybe Carson allowed it and had no problems with it, just as long as his ideas are being picked up and promoted.
That’s why you appoint people who understand the problem and give them room to get the job done.
That’s what President Reagan did. That’s what Trump will do.
Anyone who thinks Trump wrote his own op-ed is truly kidding themselves.
Trump has plenty of policy positions on his website...
I'm just not sure he understands them in a way that he can make them traverse the inner bowels of DC sausage making and come out with Trump sausage ...
Unfortunately he needs a politician to help him do that...
There's this separation of powers thingy I'm not sure Trump fully gets yet...
Nothing Trump does can dissuade the true believers.
Most Micronesians have now moved to Hawaii for the free lifetime medical care they were blithely promised by Congress. They all immediately go on the dole, and spend half their time camped out in hospitals and emergency rooms.
This has cost Hawaii hundreds of milions of dollars in medical costs, for which we are supposed to receive reimbursement from the federal government. However, the feds have stiffed Hawaii on reimbursement for many years and so we, the Hawaii taxpayers, have been stuck with the bill for this federal promise and problem.
This is even before you get to all the costs we suffer because they are on welfare, camp out in our parks as the “homeless” and generally cause problems. (Hawaii has by far the worst homeless situation in the United States, although the Micros are just one facet of the problem.)
Just another thing that pisses me off about our government.
He just said he’d develop his own foreign policy.
Doesn’t sound like a guy who is willing to admit what he doesn’t know.
Both articles were probably ghost-written by the same staffer.
