I know that several university campuses have tried to ban the Marines, Army and CIA from recruiting.
This is an unfortunate highlight from something that was actually meant for good. When I first read about this, it was to protect conservative students from being harassed and harangued by the special snowflakes and their trigger warnings and safe space. What the dem did was to push the slippery slope argument, and Rep. Daniel took the bait. He should have pushed the free political speech angle and dismissed the democrat’s question by citing laws against treason.
Instead, he stuck his foot in it and made it that much harder for conservatives to have a voice on campus.
They all ready do. Muslim students organization.
Calls for rebellion and treason have NEVER been found to be protected under the 1st Amendment.
[[What can be said here? ]]
That this country has gone stark raving mad- friggin insane!
He’s a moron of the highest caliber?
That the MSM sensationalized an (albeit stupid) statement from a (R) to make him/party/voters look stupid?
1) I didn’t know ISIS was an ‘army’. Whose flag do they march under? They are an armed theocracy of no nationality and, as such, should NOT be afforded to be treated using GC standards (extract as much info and then hung/shot). Course, we’re not fighting to WIN against ISIS anyway...we (govt) let ‘em the front door/border.
2) People dumb enough to leave to join up, yank their Citizenship.
3) Treason? That stopped ~WWII. Anyone think the people today even know the meaning? Sure didn’t stop/work during the Communist infiltration AFTER WWII, or the ‘radicals’ of the 60/70.
4) Last, but not least: It’s not Fascism when WE do it, right? “I may not like what you say, but I will defend your Right...”?? When the shoe is on the OTHER foot, *then* it’s a ‘problem’?? Either #3 or #4, but never doubt the opposition (regardless of the side you’re on) WILL use every avenue available to use the (DEADLY) force of govt against the other.
But Christian churches can’t recruit.
America has lost it’s collective mind!
It can be said that the non-quote was a response to a direct question trying to conflate ISIS recruiting with other types of speech.
In other words, a gotcha question that this station dutifully used to skewer the republican lawmaker.
When did treason become so trendy for the left. Was it Fonda?
What if Donald Trump wanted to come and recruit voters?
Sedition is not free speech, it is conspiracy to violently overthrow the government of the US, which is an illegal act.
