A New Theory of Trump
Commentary Magazine ^ | 3/15/2016 | John Podhoretz

Posted on 03/21/2016 9:56:23 AM PDT by wildbill

Why Trump? Why him? Why now? As is ever the case with a phenomenon that defies conventional wisdom, analysts have sought to explain his rise by asserting he has risen to prove exactly the point they have been making for years but nobody was listening.

Not much analysis of the Trump phenomenon on FR. Instead we get a lot of fevered pro and con for various Republican candidates by Freepers who seem to have made up their minds. I will supplement this with an analysis of the Podhoretz analysis by Rush Limbaugh in a subsequent post.

Both articles are long but deserve to be read.

Simple; Trump is an atomic weapon we hope to plant in downtown DC, and blow the damn town up.

Exactly! One writer said that Trump is the Republican “F*** YOU!” candidate and Bernie is the Democrat version.

People on both sides are angry and want the corrupt UniParty toppled, smashed, and burned.

To that effect it will not surprise me if come November a lot of Bernie Sanders supporters vote for Trump just because they’re so mad at having their election stolen from them again.

I see no downside with Trump. Even if he fails he will have proven in a most vivid way that we do not have to win from a submissive posture. He will have proven like Reagan that populist conservatism can sell and can win. Already Trump has proven that he can be thrown into the furnace and will not be burned. He is hit and his enemies crumble before him. I’ve never seen such a candidate in all my life and its the most beautiful thing.

'Bout sums it up.

And never forget...they did it to themselves.

Who said they live below the poverty line? On the contrary his supporters tend to be middle class laborers, particularly union members. That’s why he’s been beset with thuggery at his rallies. Thuggery is a tried and true union tactic. It has nothing to do with fascism. But the author is correct that there aren’t enough of them to get him elected. Particularly since the Democrats have such influence with the unions.

I think Trump has crafted a message that resonates with a lot of people; hence, he has a lot of support. There is no single reason for his ascendancy but, rather, multiple reasons and factors. Ultimately, two party representative democracy is pretty complex and Americans are doing the best they can with this system.

I'll bet my lunch money that sanders goes third party against the hildabeast. His supporters are so convinced they have the only right answer they will write him in.

On the republican side, those that oppose Trump will be so convinced that they have the right answer, they won't vote.

Trump will lose to the hildabeast because of the righteous republican effect.

Podhoretz, another foaming and frothing at the mouth neo-con artist. Not worth the time reading.

He makes some good points. I agree that the seeds of Trump were sown in 2008 when both the OWS and the Tea Party ends of the political spectrum opposed taxpayer bailouts of Wall Street, and yet Washington did them anyway. Nobody wanted to vent their spleens on a new President who was a member of a protected racial minority. So the rage got put away in the vault, to be hauled out now.

I also agree that a lot of Trump’s support comes from a desire by many in the public to have a big, tough bully come along and “punish” their oppressors.

This is not always a bad or unhealthy thing for society IMHO.

It wouldn't surprise me if Canlkes named Col. Sanders her running mate.

I don’t think Burney stirs much excitement in the hood.
She needs a black or latino VP.
And far left enough that the Republicans won’t want to impeach her after she pardons herself for servergate.

If people refuse to vote they are automatically electing Hillary.

Not a smart move at all.

Get out the vote.

Long on intellectual preening, short on grass roots analysis.
This is a completely worthless article. It goes into great length and analysis about absolutely nothing.
Trump, Podhoretz says, is the Great Hammer with which every disgruntled white man wants to cudgel his nemesis. Anger does not motivate for long. Inspiration motivates.
Podhoretz wants us to believe Trump’s supporters want, somehow to live in the past. Aberrant nonsense. What we want is to get back on track with the American Constitution.

Very simply:

The citizens are sick of the illegal alien invasion.

Trump stepped up and said he would stop it while everyone else was discussing how to accomodate the illegal aliens and their employers.

Both parties have been INTENTIONALLY flooding the country with fraudulently documented foreigners since the last amnesty while the citizens are still waiting for the enforcement we were promised would make another unncecessary.

A superficial bit of silly make believe, that projects the opposite of what is real.

Here is an analysis of Trump, which will explain him to those who want to really understand the motivations involved:

Trump really is a natural (instinctive) Conservative, now in wake-up mode. He has already performed an immense service to the Conservative cause. Read:

Trump: Metaphor For American Conservatism.

And my analysis is a lot shorter, a lot more to the point.

We Stand With Trump!

If people refuse to vote they are automatically electing Hillary.

But they will bitch incessantly over the outcome.

Trump supporters want to get back to the Constitution? His most fervent supporters don’t back the Constitution, they back him for his non-PC talk about things that affect them and cause their anger.

Read the Limbaugh response to the Pohhorez article that I posted just afterward. His analysis in more in line with the visceral feelings of Trump voters IMO.

This election will be about nativist feelings of Republicans and Independents and Reagan Democrats who feel their country is being transformed without their consent by Obama, the Dems and the Courts.

Revolutions are begun and won though anger, not inspiration.

GOP candidates never win without grass-roots support. They also never lose if they have it.

Trump will win because he has nothing but grass-roots support.

Ted’s supporters will eventually cross the line and support Trump and I say that as I am one of them.
