Corporations expressed disappointment Thursday and the NCAA vowed to monitor what North Carolina does next now that the state has banned any local government measures protecting people from discrimination on the basis of sexual orientation and gender identity.
American Airlines, which operates its second-largest hub in Charlotte; IBM and Biogen, which have facilities in the states Research Triangle; and payments processor PayPal, which had announced plans to hire 400 people in Charlotte only last week, were among major employers condemning the new law.
The legislature called a special session Wednesday to void a Charlotte ordinance that would have enabled transgender people to legally use restrooms aligned with their gender identity, and would have provided broad protections against discrimination in public accommodations in the state's largest city.

Let me guess... this is our “You can’t make me bake the cake” law?
The world has gone mad.
PLEASE give this time to be proven, North Carolina!
Indeed. When it comes to America and its culture, everything that was once deemed good and virtuous is now trashed and vilified, while everything that was once deemed vile and debased is fully praised and celebrated.
It’s like we’re living in a mirror-universe of everything we once were and once stood for. America has become the “evil twin” of its former self.
The commie libs are worried about their queers. It’s extortion time. Follow the $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$. It’s all about the money.
This is what things look like when the god of this world attacks spiritually.
Tyranny of the minority must be completely eliminated.
I mean wiped out.
They dont care about them, they are just a wedge/leverage/tool of the dialdctic.
Yes, it has. Being able to discriminate is freedom. Government cannot discriminate, but individuals and private businesses must be able to discriminate for any reason or no reason. We have lost the freedom of association.
No, we won’t have a return to segregated diners, etc. Can you imagine what would happen to any business who put up a “whites only” sign? It would soon go under. Anti-discrimination laws have become a club the government uses to control our lives and outlaw religion.
it’s already been proven by North Carolina. Remember when North Carolina voted to protect marriage and the Liberals went ape-sh1t? After awhile the furor died down and no one left.
and the irony/hypocrisy is the left has no issue when the LGBT discriminates against Christians or Women. They are fine with businesses like Curves discriminating against men.
But to correct one thing you said..”Government cannot discriminate”..it does..Selective Service Registration.
What I meant to say is that government is the only entity that should not be permitted to discriminate. In the case of Selective Service, it should be abolished. If there were a true threat to the US, people would sign up voluntarily as they did after Pearl Harbor and 9/11.
Being forced to register simply for being born male is discriminating based on sex. I’m glad a few of the military higher ups and some congressmen want women to start being registered.
Did the law prohibit private businesses from enacting their own “anti discrimination” policies?
No. Then shut up.
Disappointing that I can’t go take a leak in the Ladies’ Room.
I think I’m gonna cry.
American Airlines needs to remove the word American from their name!
This whole "anti-discrimination law" stuff is really a misnomer. Because every anti-discrimination law ever written that tries to prevent discrimination against one group automatically allows discrimination against another.
Yeah, and the worst thing about this whole ugly mirror-universe transformation is that I didn’t even get a sexy Barbara Luna out the of the deal. That’s miffed the hell out of me, too.
