"The secretary and I both believe that there will be an increase in U.S. forces in Iraq in coming weeks, but that decision hasn't been made," Dunford said. He did not say how big that increase might be.

He and Carter said accelerating the campaign against the Islamic State will include more assistance like the artillery fire and targeting help that U.S. Marines provided earlier this week to Iraqi forces advancing on Mosul. But they said American forces remain well behind the front lines.

Does this mean Obama has to give back his Affirmative-Action Nobel Peace Prize?

What say you?
Personally, I'm tired of American soldiers dying in foreign countries for no good reason. Korea, Vietnam, the middle east, etc.
If Congress wants to continue destroying our best and brightest, I suggest they send their own sons - and daughters - first.

I don’t trust this enemy islamist CIC at all. He won’t win and will only murder more of our forces.

Personally I am tired of allowing our enemies to follow the “rope a dope” strategy of Vietnam against us. No more PC wars. No more nation building. If we have to use use military force leave nothing behind but dust or glass to show the rest of the world that they should not mess with us.

If we ever want to win a war in another country we have to be fully committed in the beginning to occupying the country for years or decades to come. That is the difference between Germany, Japan and South Korea on the one hand and Vietnam and Iraq on the other.

If the war is not vital enough to our national security to make that commitment then stay home. The alternative is sacrificing some of the best of our kids for nothing.

empathizing, and still twitching. How can an administration that is bent on destroying the nation do anything but?

show the rest of the world that they should not mess with us.
In 1941, Japan bombed us and Germany declared war against us. Since then, I don't think anyone has really messed with us.
We kind of "found ways" to get into someone else's problem - like the make believe Gulf of Tonkin attack.
We have forgotten Ike's 1961 warning about the military-industrial complex.

“Military officials pushing for increase in US troops in Iraq”

For what? We have already lost over 4500 brave young Americans there. Poor kids win the war and the sons a bitches in Washington walk away. Just as they did in Korea, Vietnam, Iraq (’92) and Iraq (’11).
Enough.
Lock it down at home.

Post of the day. Hell, post of the decade. And a fitting epitaph for Empire America.

We already gave Iraq billions in military equipment and trained an army for them.

If they don’t have enough to do the job— or enough will to do the job — then it can’t be done (because we paid our dues over there, now it’s their turn to take charge of their own destiny).

Hell No. Unless we are prepared to occupy the country for 50 years, it’s pointless.

One of the major military blunders of all time: the premature withdrawal from Iraq.
