They’ve been in business since 1926 and they’ve been accurate four times? Amazing.

And Cruz, the Christian Champion of the People" refuses to make a direct, "I didn't have sex with them women" statement and sticks with, "the reports are garbage", while letting Carly speak for him when questioned? Insane.

> he’s in no better position than the situation of responding to “have you stopped beating your wife”. Anything he says would make his situation worse.

Don’t be ridiculous.

//

Have you stopped beating your wife?

“That question is garbage. It’s a smear. That story was planted by Trump’s henchmen bla bla bla”

vs.

“I have never beaten my wife”

It’s almost IMPOSSIBLE for a public figure to win such a lawsuit. You hadn’t heard that?

The Hulk Hogan jury hit Gawker with another body slam Monday, awarding the former pro wrestler $25.1 million on top of the $115 million it already gave him over the publication of his sex tape.

Gawker owner Nick Denton must personally pony up $10 million of the additional punitive damages, while the gossip site is on the hook for $15 million and its former editor A.J. Daulerio, who posted the video, was held liable for $100,000.

If you’re running for President and a microphone is in your face, the only proper response is, “I never cheated on my wife.”

Because the article is very, very carefully worded to protect NE against lawsuits. That is what they do. No names, named. Private detectives are digging into at least five affairs Ted Cruz supposedly had,” claimed a Washington insider. Private detectives digging. Supposedly had. Claimed nameless insider.

Sets the gossips to twittering, but no grounds for a lawsuit since it does not ACTUALLY accuse him of having am affair or affairs. And there is no one to question about sources. Nasty, ugly marriage and career destroying innuendo with no concrete way to counter it.

If you deny it those who wish you ill will not believe and will continue to spread the rumors and speculate and create “proof” out of thin air. If you do not deny it, then those who wish you ill, will say your lack of denial means the rumors are true and spend hours celebrating your downfall.

The way politics are going no decent human being will be willing to run for office and risk his/her family and reputation. Even if the candidate is pure as driven snow all it takes is one article in National Inquirer full of words like “supposed” and “rumored” by unnamed “insiders” to ruin that candidate's reputation. We will be left with only the scum of the earth as politicians, because only they have no regard for their reputation.

I agree and don’t look for him to say it either. He’s had a week. Most couples would make a joint appearance and just put it to rest immediately as being totally false.

I just brought myself around to watching the Carly/ Ted interview...I am old enough to read body language and know BS when i see it and hear it....Ted is guilty as hell of infidelity at some point in his marriage...If you can’t see it in that pathetic interview...then you are not very bright.

And ... there is no way to prove that NE acted with malice. NE writes salacious headlines to attract readers. It’s what they do. No jury would find that to be malice.

A public figure cannot sue for libel based on incorrect, harmful allegations. He must prove that the author published the libel with malice and knowledge that the allegations were false.

Cruz cannot prove malice. He is a successful attorney who knows that. That’s why he doesn’t sue.

Oh yes, it was Edwards, not Hart. Oops, my bad.

I agree with your thoughts.
