No, actually the goal is better cars. Sorry to burst your paranoid anti-tech fantasies, but out here in reality people can and do afford cars, even fancy high tech ones you find irritating.

I would agree if I had a choice. But I don’t. They are cramming all of this junk down our throats. The average person is priced out now.

I’m sure that as technology improves, the ability to suss out lanes will also improve. There will be ambiguous situations like old markings showing through worn paint-overs, but the actual behavior of traffic will reveal what the valid markings actually are. (Some areas of I80 in Omaha are like this, especially when the sun angle is low and aligned with the highway.)

“No, actually the goal is better cars. “

Touché!

We have a Honda Pilot with Honda’s sensing package and it’s wonderful.

The car steers itself around corners, keeps a reasonable distance behind the car in front and rocks the steering wheel if I happen to cross onto the shoulder. The sensing package is available upon virtually every Honda as a $1,000 option.

It’s a better car. I know it’s not a Honda exclusive, but Honda has made it available at a very desirable price point.
