The State Department said Friday that the FBI has asked the department to halt its internal investigation into emails sent or received by Hillary Clinton while she led the department, emails that are now deemed to contain "top secret" information.
State had been reviewing whether the information was deemed top secret at the time it was sent, or whether the information only became top secret later. But State Department spokesman Elizabeth Trudeau said the FBI asked the department to stop so as not to interfere with the FBI's own investigation.
She said State asked the FBI for a ruling in February on whether it should proceed, and that the FBI told State to stand down on its review sometime in March.
"We contacted the FBI to solicit a judgement from them as to the best path forward," Trudeau told reporters when asked about the review of the 22 emails that included "top secret" information. She didn't clarify if the decision affected hundreds of other emails that included classified information.

“The FBI has its marching orders: Nothing to see here. Move along.”
I doubt your asertion! The FBI Director cannot be removed from his position by the president until his term expires. While he can’t demand that the DOJ prosecute Hitlary, he can go public about what his agency has found and Obola and Co. couldn’t prevent him from so doing. So the RATs are on the horns of a dilemma, no matter what the DOJ does or doesn’t do, we will all get to know the findings of the FBI, and that will be sooner rather than later.
And the Foundation
Nope. With the recent info that a connected lawyer set up their own law firm to represent four of the Clinton aides during the FBI interviews we’re seeing something unprecedented. That’s virtually an admission of guilt.
What’s more interesting is while many were bemoaning the lack of progress, each side has been firing shots across the others bows with the FBI inflicting enough damage to force retreats of the Clinton camp.
If you understand the signs there’s a battle about to begin that will make Clinton’s impeachment look like an episode of Mr. Rogers.
Just like all criminals, after decades of illegal activity, they have finally made a mistake.
I think they've screwed the pooch on this one. Whether either of them will ever see a jail cell is uncertain to improbable, but I do feel she will face some sort of charges.
If she is found to have mishandled classified info, attempted to cover up or destroy evidence, lied and perhaps sold influence while she was employed in the state dept., she will lose her security clearance and will not be eligible to become president. Even if she avoids felony indictment.
He will on the way out. If he does it earlier his legacy throughout history will make the Tea Pot Dome look like minor shoplifting.
“What a waste of time. Obama will pardon her.”
Nonsense, nothing to pardon her for yet, and my bet is that the way the FBI will play this is “Hillary dies by a thousand cuts” before she’s ever brought to court. Right now, the ONLY ISSUE is to make sure she’s too damaged to run for President. If the FBI can accomplish that, it’s all we need. Prresident Trump can “bat cleanup” with her and prosecute her when he gets into office. We all know K-sick wouldn’t do it for certain, and I have my doubts that Cruze would either.
I agree with most of what you said in your post; however, unless you were the OCA the classification marking was your responsibility but the actual classification was up to the OCA. You would have been marking the document based on the classification guide in use at the time you created the document. The Clinton emails in question should have been classified per the guide (or rules) available at the time the document was created. Unless the guide was changed, then the information was classified at the time of writing, sending, and receiving. It would not be changed later. The guide would say something like this:
Our interest in this topic is: Confidential
Actually tracking this topic is: Secret
Using these assets to track this topic is: Top Secret
Anyone dealing with classified information should have been briefed on this and signed that they understand. It is my understanding that SoS Clinton skipped this briefing.
What a costly four years was Hillary’s tenure as the imbecile who ran the State Department like a barroom drunk!
Now we’ve got the scary looking Kerry flouncing around the globe making America look foolish. He gets a lot of help in that department with the foppish, fruitcake who inhabits the oval office crapper.
Seems this thread is custom made for you
While I hate Obama and the Clinton’s, I doubt that the FBI can reveal details of an investigation to the general public. It has to be done through the courts. Huge lawsuits for releasing information on an investigation to harm a particular person or persons.
The public only knows a fraction of the evidence that the FBI may now have against Clinton. If Comey himself interviews Clinton, as has been reported, I think it is a signal as to how serious the case is.
TRANSLATION: “Stop the shredders!”
“Do you believe that?”
The people at State probably weren’t cleared to see the stuff they were reviewing.
“I doubt that the FBI can reveal details of an investigation to the general public.”
Oh please! If Comey decides that he needs to tell the country what the FBI has found, he will find a way to do it. He might even squeeze some of the other people involved so they go public. When the FBI starts charging the underlings, they too may decide that they don’t want to go to jail for Hillary, and make public statements in a effort to avoid jail themselves.
If Comey decides that he needs to tell the country what the FBI has found, he will find a way to do it.
You are right about that.
How can the FBI order a Department of State to stand down?? They have no such authority. The best they can legally do is ask, to seek State’s cooperation.
Notice the words “that are now deemed to contain “top secret” information”
The fix is in. The emails were top secret when sent and received by an inside or outside mail server. The smartest woman in the world can’t tell whether anything is confidential and should not be shared outside of of the State Department. She’s not eligible to be elected dog catcher in Mongolia, let alone serve as Secretary of State or POTUS.
they got it all.
I agree. She’s in bad trouble.
