We come before You in an act of repentance. We in America have backslidden just as Israel did. We are lost in this nation because we have abandoned You. You have not abandoned us. Father, we acknowledge that we have turned away from Commandment #1----that we should have no other gods before You. We truly have been guilty of attempting to replace You with many other “gods,” and have thus lost much of what You wanted to provide for this nation. Forgive us, Lord. Help each of us to begin America’s journey back to You by examining in our own hearts where we have placed people, activities, or material things higher than You. Help us, Lord, to honor You in our lives each and every day as we seek Your face and Your deliverance from the moral decline that is plaguing our nation.
Father, You have such love for Your people. Thank You for loving us even in our unlovable state. Help us, Father, to be imitators of You, Lord, as Your beloved children. Make us instruments of Your peace, Your love, Your truth, Your mercy, and Your forgiveness.
Protect the men and women in our military from all harm and danger as they continue their assignments. Father, we know there are many mental, physical, emotional, and spiritual stresses on these patriots, but we are confident in Your desire and Your willingness to help them through them all. Grant each of our service men and women many opportunities to grow closer to You as they carry out their duties. Help them to know that You never leave them nor forsake them.
Lord, our prayers seem so inadequate in light of all that our nation needs. And yet, we know that You are the God Who provides all when hearts and minds are earnestly seeking You. Help us, Lord God, to have the country, the towns and cities, the churches, the homes, the families, and the relationship with You that You want us to have. We know that no good thing will You withhold from those who walk uprightly before You. Make us that kind of people, Lord. Help us to become those who walk uprightly before You. In the powerful Name of Jesus Christ, Amen.
