Absolutely correct.

It’s to bad the AMA didn’t follow the lead of the ABA and open up a bunch of new medical schools and actively recruit students into the profession over the last 30-40 years.

The country would be much better off with to many doctors rather than lawyers...

Yeah. Apparently the States rely on them for estimates on needed doctors for medical school appropriations; they conducted a decades long campaign of limiting the number of doctors. Kids with 3.75 GPAs and decent MCATS could not get in; the reality is that the previous generation of docs were guys with gentleman's C's and good family names. You don't have to be a genius to be a GP; in fact, it's a detriment: smart people can't do that all day long. They'd go bonkers.

So now we're told that Pakistan and India produce Wonderful Docs. The reality is that they are far worse then the Just-OK docs we would have had if we had doubled the number of medical schools along with the population growth between 1970-2000.
