A complaint filed by advocacy groups alleges that U.S. Border Patrol agents are looting immigrants of possessions before deporting them to Mexico without their IDs or money.

The ACLU of New Mexico and a coalition of organizations filed the administrative complaint with the U.S. Department of Homeland Security on Wednesday and say the alleged seizures are putting migrants at the US-Mexico in harm's way.

"They are really eroding the rule of law at the border," ACLU of New Mexico attorney Kristin Greer Love said.

Gee....if they came here only out of love, why then would they be returning (or being returned) with untold gold, riches and treasure? Where did they get it from? Did they bring it here in the first place?

Screw them. Just taking back what they never should have stolen in the first place.

i suppose illegally sneaking into a foreign country isn’t going ‘into harms way’ in and of itself

I can ‘t believe I’m going to say this.

The border patrol all know that there is no way to deter these people using official protocols and existing law so they are doing what they can to discourage them from returning.

also it’s logical that people with most exposure to Mexicans would emerge as the most mexicanized, and LEO robbers are a very mexican thing.

“U.S. Border Patrol agents detained a 23-year-old man from Chihuahua, Mexico, on a road near Antelope Wells, New Mexico, in February 2015, and forced him to sign a form abandoning his rights to his belongings”

I do that every April 15. Welcome to America.

That irony is rich isn’t it.

They should not be able to keep property obtained illegally in the USA, and if they entered illegally, pretty much everything in their possession is illegal. If you rob a bank and they later catch you, you don’t get to keep the money.

I disagree ... try sneaking into a country in the area of the world I call Krapistan. If you are caught, it is unlikely that the world will ever see you again. After using you for target practice, your body will be dumped into a ravine where the night creatures will dispose of your mortal remains in a few days if not a few hours.

It should be noted that Arizona had a system for voluntary deportation that really worked, and saved a lot of money and heartburn all the way around.

There was a problem that if they kicked illegals just across the border, they would both immediately try to come back, but also become prey of the drug cartels and other savages.

So Arizona made deportable illegals a deal. If they agree to deportation, a 747 would be chartered to fly them from Phoenix to Mexico City D.F., about 300-400 at a time.

First of all, Mexico City is a lot safer than just south of the border. Second, it is a long way away from the border, making it an arduous journey to come back to the US, so recidivism rates were much lower. Third, chartering a 747 cost a *lot* less, in that they were voluntary deporatations.

Why would they deport an immigrant?
