The president has criticized Trump's proposals three times in less than a week.
Oh, no. It's Trump, a smiling Obama said when he was asked on Tuesday whether the GOP candidates policy proposals are hurting the U.S.s image in the world.
Then the president turned serious. I am getting questions constantly from foreign leaders about some of the wackier suggestions that are being made, Obama told reporters at the White House.
He dismissed Trumps proposal to force Mexico to pay for a multibillion-dollar border wall by cutting off immigrants ability to send money back to their home country as a half-baked strategy that would ruin Mexicos economy and lead to a new wave of illegal immigration to the U.S.
In a recent press conference, Obama called Trump's proposal to allow Japan and South Korea to obtain nuclear weapons an example of the GOP front-runner's lack of foreign policy knowledge.
And he also defended NATO as a "cornerstone" of U.S. and European security after a Monday meeting with the organizations secretary-general. Trump has called the Cold War-era alliance "obsolete" and said he would be happy to see it dissolve.
The direct attacks are a shift from the White House's approach over the past few months of mostly offering implicit criticisms of Trump.
In his State of the Union address he took a veiled swipe at Trumps Make America Great Again slogan, saying the nation had overcome the fears of those who told us to fear the future.
Before the State of the Union, Obama laughed off the idea of Trump becoming president in an interview with NBCs Today show host Matt Lauer.
Asked if he can imagine the real estate mogul in the White House, he responded I can imagine it in a Saturday Night skit.

LMAO !!
Obama and Cruz are on the same side.
The guy’s a punk. And an Islamist-Marxist.
This will really help Cruz!(Sarc.) Cruisers must be proud to have Obama on their side.
If Trump will be so easy for Hillary! to beat, why is The Won trying to make him look bad?
The more Obama harps on Trump and attacks him, the more it will help Trump’s cause.
I still support Cruz, but will vote for Trump should he win the nomination and still believe Trump has a very good chance of doing so.
If Trump comes back strong in NY, PA, and the other NE States, and then also takes the largest part of CA, he will be very, very close...if not over the top.
Personally I believe he might get over the top in June. But if he gets to the convention with less than 100 delegates needed, I believe he will be able to put that together.
We shall see.
A brokered convention where anyone who is 200 or more delegates behind Trump, and particularly if/when the GOPe tries to anoint someone who won few or no delegates, will hopelessly split the party and lead to a Dem win in November...which is what we all MUST come together to keep from happeneing.
Obama knows his hating on a particular Republican is the same as an endorsement.
Barry and Hillary read the polls so they wants them some Donald Trump in November.

That was my first reaction, as well.
This is a man desperate in his belief that America will continue to elect miscreants who punish Americans in the interest of the non-American. Perhaps he is right; by voting for Trump, we can prove him wrong. (If he cannot find a way to stop a Trump Presidency, Soetoro will kill himself.)
It’s not like Trump wants to fundamentally transform America.
Change we can believe in!
Trump 2016
Amazing how similar Obama, the GOP establishment, and the GOP runner-up all sound so similar.
But, but it’s sCruz they are worried about.
Both use Goldman Sachs.
100% accurate. So sad that cruzettes refuse to face reality.
Cruz = amnesty
Nothing will change with the bought and paid for Teddy the TOOL, nothing.
Open your eyes people, who is propping up the little man?
Can you say McConnell/Hatch/Ryan/Romney/Singer/Club for Growth...oh wait, is Club for Growth for or against amnesty?
