Judge: Ted Cruz eligible to be on N.J. primary ballot

Sen. Ted Cruz of Texas meets the criteria to be considered a “natural born citizen” and can run in New Jersey’s Republican presidential primary on June 7, an administrative law judge ruled Tuesday.

Judge Jeff Masin’s decision will now go to Lt. Gov. Kim Guadagno, who also serves as New Jersey’s secretary of state, for consideration. She can choose to accept it in full or in part, or reject it.

Masin heard arguments Monday on two challenges to Cruz’s eligibility to run for president. In both cases, the challengers argued that, because Cruz was born in Canada, he is not a natural born citizen, one of three constitutional requirements for the presidency.

Cruz, 45, was born in Calgary, Alberta. His mother, a U.S. citizen, was born in Delaware. His father was born in Cuba. Cruz has said that a child of a U.S. citizen is automatically granted citizenship at birth and is therefore “natural born.”

NJ is full of corrupt judges. The obvious ploy is to refuse to consider the issue unless he wins the Republican nomination. Then, if and when—which if frankly doubtful, no matter how much he cheats and lies—they can bring the hammer down on him.

If by the conditions of one’s birth they are NOT a citizen at birth, then they are naturalized and not natural born.

No kidding. We weren’t able to bust Obama on it either.

They will also be running ads about Trump donating $100,000 to the Clinton Foundation, contributing to Hillary’s Senate campaigns plus inviting the Clintons to his third wedding.

Why would they do that? Do you really think that they think that would help them?

Who benefits from the Trump-Cruz wars, of which many responses to this post are a part? Hillary, Bernie, Jeb, Rubio, Kasich, and others who consistently support Amnesty, who consistently support Obamacare, and who consistently support restrictions on our individual, God-given right to keep and bear arms. Decent Americans are better off with a real truce, and not just a “I’ll stop when every person who even pretends to support the other side stops” gesture toward a truce that will never happen.

The nonsense is not helping us to elect the best possible conservative in November. I want 99% or more of Cruz supporters to vote Trump, when he is nominated, even if they hold their noses. In the event that Cruz wins the nomination, I want 99% or more of Trump supporters to vote Cruz, even if they hold their noses. Offending the other side does not encourage them to vote Trump (or Cruz) in November. I cannot help wondering how many of those who stir up the Trump-Cruz wars are actually paid trolls taking Jeb/Hillary/Soros money to cause trouble - not all of them but probably enough to set the toxic tone.

I stand by my recurring statement:

Cruz and Trump are both imperfect but they agree far more than 80% of the time (see my tagline from Ronald Reagan). They should be friends and allies, and we should treat both of them as such.

Some examples of who wouldn’t qualify as a natural born citizen. There are additional exampkes.
Born outside the U.S. and neither of the parents was a U.S. citizen.
Born outside the U.S. and a parent didn’t establish five year residence in the U.S. prior to the child’s birth, with 2 of those years being after the age of 14.
Born in the U.S. but the parents are foreigners with diplomatic immunity.

At least Cruz supporters, unlike tRump supporters have a mind. You lost your mind months ago, if you ever had one at all.

“If I understand correctly, Cruz did not even become a citizen of the US until 2011.”

You don’t understand correctly.

As with Obama, Cruz is not a NBC. Neither is Rubio.

What ever happened to two citizen parents?

So, any foreigner, with one US parent, can now be president.

Gloat all you want, but I don't like the sound of that.

Natural born citizen is only a requirement for President.
The founders wanted to insure no divided loyalties.
NATURALLY a US citizen because being born of citizen parents in this country there is no alternative.
Anyone born with divided loyalties from foreign birth or parents may be a citizen, but are not a natural born citizen.

However this judge’s ruling is advisory only. The decision now goes to Kim Guadagno who is New Jersey’s Lieutenant Governor & Secretary of State. The politics are fascinating since Governor Christie has endorsed Donald Trump and his Lieutenant Governor can accept, reject or accept in part this judge’s advisory opinion.
If the plaintiff isn’t satisfied with Kim Guadagno’s ruling, he can appeal to the New Jersey Superior Court which is the appeals court in that state.

“If by the conditions of one’s birth they are NOT a citizen at birth, then they are naturalized and not natural born.”

No, that garbage was inserted into the U.S. State Department Foreign Affairs Manual to serve as a cover for the efforts to put these ineligible characters into the White House. Members of Congress tried for years to get bills passed that would amend the Constitution for the purpose of removing the natural born citizen clause. When each and everyone of the bills failed to be passed by Congress, they shifted their efforts to just disregarding the natural born citizen clause and pretend they could just redefine naturalized citizens as natural born citizens by playing around with the definition of naturalization and natural born citizenship. Looking back into history before about 1990-2000 you find no one was acquiring U.S. British, or English citizenship as a natural born citizen if they were born abroad without some form of diplomatic immunity. All persons born abroad could acquire citizenship only by birth within the jurisdiction of the sovereign and two citizen parents. Those British subjects who were not also British citizens could acquire status as a British subject only by the authority of a British naturalization act that naturalized them as British subjects.

This whole myth that birth with a citizen parent makes a person a natural born citizen is a fraud and a scam. From 1802 to 1855 and later for some people, a child born abroad with TWO U.S. CITIZEN PARENTS did not qualify for U.S. citizenship of any kind, natural born citizenship or naturalized citizenship, because there was no statutory naturalization law in existence to provide naturalized citizenship.

The judge in this case needs to be impeached.

I guess these Cruz birthers will never learn. Every attempt to kick Cruz off the ballot has failed.
