North Carolina Governor Tries to Step Back From Bias Law
New York Times ^ | 04/12/2016 | Richard Fausset and Alan Blinder

Gov. Pat McCrory of North Carolina, whose state has been the subject of withering criticism since he signed legislation limiting bathroom access for transgender people and eliminating anti-discrimination ordinances based on sexual orientation, announced Tuesday that he would strengthen workplace protections for state employees and urge the General Assembly to modify part of the law....

He also said he would urge lawmakers to reverse course and allow people to bring discrimination cases in state court....

Since the measure became law, North Carolina has faced a barrage of criticism from business interests and warnings of boycotts and canceled investments. PayPal, an online-payment company, said it would abandon plans for a global operations center in the state, and the National Basketball Association suggested that it could move its 2017 All-Star Game from Charlotte. There, tourism officials said that organizers of at least four major events had cited the law when they dropped plans to be in the city.

On Tuesday, Deutsche Bank announced that it would “freeze plans to create 250 jobs” near Raleigh.

Mr. McCrory is not the first Republican governor to back away from a measure condemned as curbing gay rights. Last year, for example, Mike Pence of Indiana and Asa Hutchinson of Arkansas found themselves under similar pressures....

“I think it’s an attempt to divert attention from a full repeal effort,” said State Representative Darren G. Jackson, a Democrat from Wake County.

He said it was a tacit admission that the new law “has taken a big economic toll on North Carolina.”

Because of cowardice and a distorted definition of love - The light is under a bushel and the salt has been diluted to nothing.<<<<<<<

Amen to that!!!

Yep, if we true women are not going to allow men to come in and assault us, then the rest of the people of the state have to be held hostage, and punished.

Perverted Justice for all???

This is the problem with twisted sexuality. It seeks to pervert absolutely everything in existence which is why even the land itself gets polluted. God told us this, and now that we’ve taken a taste of the tree of good and evil, we can see it.

I want to know how many of these corporations punishing NC allow men to use the ladies rooms, or how many of them have gender-neutral, multi-stall rest rooms.

What is this shite? A man has a penis, a woman has a vagina.

Penises use the men’s room and vaginas use the ladies room.

If you “FEEL” like a woman, but have a penis, you use the men’s room.

If you”FEEL” like a man, but have a vagina, you use the ladies room.

If you dress like a woman, but have a penis, you use the men’s room.

If you dress like a man, but have a vagina, you use the ladies room.

IS IT CLEAR NOW?

Penises use the men’s room and vaginas use the ladies room.

There, I just wrote your law for you.

He only eliminated the ban from litigation for discrimination claims. He is not removing the meat of HB 2.

you are too late pal! The Legislature already wrote that into NC law and the governor concurs - and it stands!

I am sick of gays acting like they are victims because they cannot turn Nc into Thailand or something, while real kids get gender assigned and raped into prostitution as true victims throughout the world.

Only the gays seem to be allowed to own slaves, and the movie Bruno was right about that.

If anything, mif they all love the gays so much, then why wont corporations finance gay bathrooms in their gian generosity?

and how is that acceptable? I’d rather the ban for litigation over the bathroom section. I don’t use public restroom so I really don’t care about that part of the bill.

Also the fact that women’s groups sued to force themselves in male locker room in a way this could be considered karma..but anyway..I do think it’s wrong you can sue someone for refusing to work for you at a private event.
