Sharon Stone has cancelled filming of an upcoming project in Mississippi as a result of the states newly passed anti-LGBT religious freedom on steroids bill, HB 1523.
The films producers informed Mississippi Film Studios president Rick Moore that the law was a deal-breaker for Stone.
The unnamed film project reportedly tackles the consequences of cyberbullying. James Cromwell is slated to direct.
Unfortunately, Sharon Stone feels strongly that shooting in Mississippi is not an option while the law exists, Moore said. The other producers have chosen to regroup and find another location.
Moore said he has heard of projects on the coast that will no longer film in Mississippi for similar reasons.
While he said it is too early to tell what the long-term effects of the bill will be, Moore said hes noticed an immediate shift in conversation about movies considering filming in Mississippi.
HB 1523 has stirred many passionate opinions, which has unfortunately slowed the momentum of the film industry, he said. The incentive is still strong to shoot in Mississippi, so I expect independent productions without A-list talent will still consider it an option.

If it werent for the casting couch, she wouldnt get any roles. True Story...she was discovered by Michael Douglas who used her as his exclusive escort.
Unfortunately, it’s considered bullying only if the victims are people of color, LGBT, communists, atheists, Muslims, and other non-Christians.
Sharon Stone ... isn’t she the one who plays the ignorant slut in movies? Ah, type casting.
This is how aging, fading Hollywood starlets advertise that they really need a gig.
“C’mon people! Hire me.”
This poor lost woman will soon draw her last breath. Her time on this earth is short. She will soon stand before the Great Lawgiver and give an account of the evil that has been unleashed upon young women through her. Do not envy her. Horror awaits her.
I have never seen the woman in a movie. In a general way I am aware of who, and what, she is.
I know she is a star in Hollywood, California.
The only flick i have ever seen her in was playing Arnold Schwarzenegger’s fake wife in the movie Total Recall.
She’s still making movies? I doubt it’s big budget.
As for filming in any state, Hollywood wouldn’t do it if it wasn’t a financial advantage to them. The states give up a lot and get little in return.
I was going to name my new puppy Ringo...now I’ll name him Banjo.
I guess she doesn’t mind males coming into her bathroom.
I’ve never liked her and now I have another reason not to like her.........;)
See if I give a damn if the club members don’t come
She’s gotten a wee bit crotchety.
Has she actually read the new Law?
Does this mean she is upset about the new Law but she is OK with the MS State Flag that depicts the Confederate Battle Flag?
Just want to be clear that Sharon knows the facts of what she is actually protesting.
Ding! Ding! Ding! We have a winner for post of the day!!
They filmed the James Brown Biopic in Natchez, MS. They also filmed The Help there.
My B-I-L was an extra in the James Brown Movie. I think he got a whole ten seconds of screen time after putting in two days work.
Mick Jagger was there when they were filming. He was Executive Producer.
I think men should start going into women’s bathrooms in states that allow it and just peeing on the seats.
If enough men started peeing all over the seats in these transexual bathrooms, women would demand that these stupid laws be overturned faster than you can say “ Ewe, Gross!”
TN does a collective sigh of relief.
“Springsteen, Bryan Adams, Ringo and now Sharon Stone.”
I don’t know about you, but I’m starting to see a fairly easy way to put liberals out of business.
Who would have thought it all came down to making laws that enforce “Men’s Room” / “Women’s Room” ... if we can get a majority of states to adopt the simple rule of using a bathroom designed for your genitalia, liberals won’t have many places to run. We win!
Imagine a world where you never have to hear a Springsteen grunt or groan ever again. It’s easy if you try!
