That is an error filled statement. Even though we are told free trade is a conservative value - it is not. The Founding Fathers were for tariffs and the Republican party was for tariffs as well - the Southern Democrats wanted free trade.
I can not and will not stand by and allow conservative to include the policy of internationalist free trade. That to me is a deal breaker.
If you’re not from Texas, you wouldn’t understand.

The trump people are always calling for everybody to drop out so their guy can win. Why don’t we just let the process work? Are you afraid you can’t win a fair fight?

Why didn’t Senator Cruz challenge Mitch McConnell for the Senate Leadership two years ago? If he’s so good at fighting the GOPe?
I am not a TRUMP fan. I have been...and still am...a Cruz supporter.
But my first allegiance and concern is the nation. A raucus, ugly convention fight will split the party and lead to a defeat we can ill afford.

Ted, I never liked you. I’ve always seen you as someone who is scripted, rehearsed and inauthentic. Like an actor in a play in which you play the part of a christian conservative.
But none of this matters now. You lost. It’s over. Get out. The scheme you are running to swindle delegates will destroy your political career and might put you in jail. Just go, Ted. Get a real job and try again in 8 years.

I say let it play itself out. That's what the delegates are there for. The premise that a convention fight would automatically result in a Clinton victory in November is asinine.
When Trump chooses a non-conservative VP soon, all the swooners on FR will again find a way to support their hunky bad boy’s pick. Look forward to watching the gyrations.
