GUTHRIE: Do you believe in raising taxes on the wealthy?
TRUMP: I do. I do – including myself. I do.
That was...this morning, in an interview that featured some other controversial statements. In fairness to Trump, he's been using the "raise taxes on rich people like me" line for months, embracing Obama-style class warfare tax gimmicks like the 'Buffet Rule.' But raising taxes on anyone, an outcome Trump just re-endorsed, is not what his formal policy agenda proposes. Just the opposite. As we've seen on issues such immigration, abortion and foreign policy, Trump routinely makes clear that he isn't familiar with his own positions. His stances aren't rooted in conviction, coherent ideological underpinnings or governing philosophy. They "evolve" and morph depending on how Trump is feeling in any given moment. Some professed conservatives may be perfectly comfortable voting for a tax-hiking, entitlement reform-opposing critic of Ronald Reagan's tax cuts. But many Republicans, including a 62 percent majority of GOP primary voters thus far, aren't eager to turn the keys of the party over to someone whose record and current statements build a strong case against the proposition that he's reliable conservative -- or much of a conservative at all. Parting thought: It's astonishing that this man appeals to people who loathe establishment "insider" types. Earlier in the answer above, longtime Democratic donor chuckles with multimillionaire celebrity newsman Matt Lauer about all the fancy parties they've attended together with hotshot bankers in New York. Man of the people.

And the hits just keep on comin...
Yep. Liberals want to raise taxes and tariffs.
But to Trumpbots, this won’t matter.
They will justify any liberal idea this leftist RINO proposes as if it’s no big deal.
New York (TAX) Values.
If you’d told me just one year ago, that Freepers would be defending raising taxes, abortion “rights” being included in the party platform, and perverts in the bathroom with little girls, I would have thought you were insane...
Who says you have to be a democrat to be gullible...?
Today, the United States experienced a tsunami of “conservatives” now OK with higher taxes, guys in women’s restrooms, and liberalizing the GOP platform on abortion.
Congrats Responsibility2nd, you all got the trifecta today with Trump. I will give you that.
Spoken like the true liberal Donald is and has been. The trumpists will look the other way on this, nothing to see here, move along.......
Hes already starting the General Election.
Indeed. He has kicked conservatives to the curb. Now he feels bold enough to shoot the finger to the Trumpsters who believed his lies.
He’s a progressive democrat. Always has been.
Rudy II. FR had a purge over NY values in 2008...
Just the liberal ones, and most rich folks are liberals, despite what their class warfare rhetoric would tell you.
Yep. And in the meantime, FReepathons are lasting longer and longer and longer. Gee, I wonder why.
In the spirit of unity I am ping Mr. Robinson into this thread.
Cruz wants VAT which is the poster child for globalist liberal socialist taxation.
I think Guy has a thing for Trump - he wants a real alpha male badly. Trumps tax plan has been public for 9 months. He isn’t abandoning that regardless of Guy’s fantasies about Trump or taxes. The only domestic tax I’ve heard about from Trump is eliminating carried interest at the cap gains rate and taxing it at the ordinary rate like anyone else that works in a business. Of course the ordinary rate will be 25 not 42. But Guy can dream if he acts up enough Trump will notice him.
