Report: Rubio won’t endorse Cruz because he doesn’t want it used against him in 2020

Marco Rubio won’t be endorsing Ted Cruz during the Republican presidential primary, but he’s likely to back the Texas senator at a contested convention — if it gets that far…

Rubio has already helped Cruz by renting him his fundraising list, calling him “the only conservative left in the race,” withdrawing his name from the primary ballot in select states so as not to siphon votes from Cruz and petitioning to hang on to some of the 171 delegates he won to keep them from going to Donald Trump…

“Marco wants Donald to lose. If he thought his endorsement would help in California or in Indiana, which it won’t, then he would probably do it,” the source said. “But what Marco isn’t going to do is just endorse Ted, watch Trump win anyway and then, in four years, watch Cruz use Marco’s endorsement against him if they both run for president again,” [a Rubio insider] said…

“Trust me, for us, the best scenario is for Ted Cruz to be the nominee this year,” another top supporter said. “It would knock Trump out. Then Cruz would run against Hillary and get slaughtered and he won’t be our problem in four years if Marco runs again. And I think he’ll run again.”

I don’t blame him. The 2020 race for West Miami dog catcher promises to be a rough one.

If this is where Rubio is now, then like Ted he’s going to be cast into the backwaters somewhere for the rest of his career. I’ve heard he’s thinking about a career change...good idea, except I don’t think real work will set well with him.

He will work to get Hillary elected. Then try to swoop in 2020, saying let the grownups try

BS

Rubio knows Cruz can not win no matter what , if Trump is not the nominee the GOP can't replace those voters, ever as Hillary will add Democratic voters

At this point, no one has said why Hillary will beat Cruz. Hillary will win blue states, Cruz will win red states and Ohio is up for grabs.

The only way Cruz loses a red state is if Trump supporters stay home, which is also true for Trump with Cruz supporters. Both do benefit in blue states if Bernie voters stay home.

Basically, the GOPe and MSM split the conservative vote which means Hillary will be President. The only way to stop this is for Cruz and Trump voters ending this blood feud.

It's interesting to hear everyone throwing around the word,"conservative" and labeling different people as conservative or no conservative, but no one bothers to include the positions that justify the label.

For instance, what are Cruz' positions that make him a conservative and Trump not a conservative? It's interesting that Cruz has been parroting most of Trump's positions.

I guess I am supposed to conclude that lawyers and politicians are more conservative than businessmen.

At least he is smarter than Cruz in that regard. A man has to know his limitations.

There wont be a 2020 if republicans dont win in 2016 and Romney has done his best to give the democrats a win.

tThere won’t be a 2020, but at least they are honest about Cruz being slaughtered if he is the nominee against Hillary.

Just how do you propose Trump supporters to end the blood feud? What part of #nevertrump is not understood at this point? The only part I can see is the part about what to do when they fail. That is on them, not the Trump supporters.

Not going to happen. I hear many Cruz people saying they will vote for Trump if he gets the nod. I hear no such thing from Trump people.

“Cruz will win red states and Ohio is up for grabs.”

Ted Cruz will not win the state of Florida. I am sorry to say, he is despised by the Trump voters here. And without Florida’s 29 electoral vote she will lose the election. To start with any GOP candidate needs to win the swing states of FL, NV, NC and VA; those are must win states and then he can win the election by taking OH or PA.

But when he loses Florida, he then would need BOTH OH and PA.

Maybe Rubio should try his luck in Puerto Rico.
