Really the source is saying Rubio wants the GOP to lose the White House in 2016 so he can have a clear shot at it in 2020.

Great guy.

The only way Cruz loses a red state is if Trump supporters stay home, which is also true for Trump with Cruz supporters.

Ted Cruz has performed abysmally in "swing" states.

Donald Trump has performed very well, winning basically all of them except Kasich's Ohio.

In addition to that, Donald Trump has about 3 million more vote than Ted Cruz, Cruz has multiple last place finishes, and he also lost the entire South, which was supposed to be his stronghold.

Ted Cruz, simply put, is not a viable national candidate, and this primary cycle has vindicated that observation.

It's the height of conceit to assert otherwise, in the face of these now-historical facts.

There would be no reason for Cruz supporters to stay home if Trump wins the nomination, inasmuch as Trump won fairly by garnering, overwhelmingly, the most delegates and votes.

On the other hand, if Ted Cruz somehow stole seized the nomination from a frontrunner who has an overwhelming advantage in delegates, votes, and enthusiasm, then countless Trump voters would be rightly enraged, and many would end up staying home.

It's basic psychology to conclude that that would be the outcome of such shenanigans.

That's why Ted Cruz's fantasy of winning a contested convention is absolutely unrealistic and indeed foolish, because, even if he were successful, it would irreparably splinter the party, destroy voter enthusiasm, cause millions of Trump voters to stay home, and consequently hand the November election to Hillary.

Now, what sane person would want to risk that?

Ted Cruz might be willing to sacrifice the party, or even the country's future, on the altar of his own selfish ambition, but thankfully, neither the GOP voters nor their delegates will be willing to do such a suicidal thing.

Ted Cruz has lost.

The Revolution is ON!

Vote Trump!

Nonsense. Rubio is just waiting until releasing his delegates will put Trump over the 1237. He can encourage his delegates to declare for Trump and be the “unity hero”.

That will be next Wednesday.

If he doesn’t take that opportunity, he will be irrelevant. Come June 7th, Trump will be well past 1237 and what Rubio does won’t matter.

“Trust me, for us, the best scenario for our country is for you two sh*theads to get lost and stay lost. Ted Cruz to be the nominee this year,” another top supporter said. “It would knock Trump out. Then Cruz would run against Hillary and get slaughtered and he won’t be our problem in four years if Marco runs again. And I think he’ll run again.”

Fixed it.

If Rubio does not fully back Trump fairly soon it will be held against him as far as his political future. He would be foolish to make deals, even informal ones, of any sort with the presumptive loser.

If Rubio possessed talented political foresight and acumen, he would have seen that Trump is going all the way right after the Acela sweep. He should have acted then to back Trump for full leverage for the future.

It is not completely too late for this, but Rubio would have been in a stronger position if he had been brave enough to pivot to Trump at that time.

Further, Rubio only has a relatively short window with any real leverage to speak of (vis a vis his delegates). This is because once Trump gets enough of his own delegates which he will soon, Rubio’s bargaining position for a place in Trump’s campaign is over, if he ever had one.

Rubio is smart not to endorse Cruz; however he ought to have taken it further and given no appearance of any support to him whatsoever for the sake of his own political future and aspirations.

If he thought his endorsement would help in California or in Indiana, which it won’t

It wouldn't even help in Florida, so why would it help in any other state? Rubio is despised in his own home state, yet he really believes that his endorsement counts for something and that he's Presidential material for 2020. It must be nice to live in a world of make-believe full time.

Marco's fifteen minutes of fame as the Golden Boy of the Republican Party have obviously gotten to his head and then some.

Not going to happen. I hear many Cruz people saying they will vote for Trump if he gets the nod. I hear no such thing from Trump people.

I'm one of those who said I would NEVER vote for Cruz. Then, I hear Hillary flapping her jaws about gun control and realize I have to vote for Cruz even if it means tearing out my own heart to do it.
