Cruz dropped out at the right time. Time to let bygones be bygones and get after the Hildabeast, IMO.
I doubt bygones will ever be bygones between Cruz and Trump, not after this campaign. But I don't see Cruz doing anything to hurt Trump's chances. He'll eventually issue a perfunctory endorsement and then sit out the rest of the election. Next year he'll start working on his own re-election.
This was probably the only way to save his political career.
Had he stayed in and split the convention, he would have been blamed for a Hillary victory.
Should Hillary win, he can will be in the front of the line for 2020. Should Trump win, he’s young and can focus on 2024.
There is still a full-term Governor running. Trump would make a big mistake if he considers any Governors as running mate, except for those that had the good sense to step down before they got completely sucked in.
