It's all about California: Clinton hopes to avoid ending primary season with an epic loss
Washington Post ^ | May 24, 2016 | By Abby Phillip and Anne Gearan

There is a real chance that Hillary Clinton will have clinched a majority of delegates, and the Democratic nomination, before polls close in the California primary late in the evening of June 7.

But losing one of the country's most diverse and Democratic states to Bernie Sanders would be such a damaging way to end this tumultuous primary season that Clinton is planning to spend millions there over the next two weeks.

This isn't exactly what Clinton had hoped to be doing as her party's July convention in Philadelphia approaches.

Clinton has deployed a massive effort to keep a once-loyal state from slipping from her grasp. She was scheduled to arrive in California late Monday for a four-day blitz of campaign events and fundraising.

A victory in California would surely strengthen Sanders's resolve to keep fighting through the convention and further delay Clinton's ability to unify the party. More significantly, losing the nation's most populous state would deal an embarrassing blow to Clinton that could haunt her in the general election against Trump.

For all the talk of disunity in the GOP ranks this campaign year it’s apparent all of the disharmony and anger now is on the Democratic side. Hillary will get crushed in California and New Jersey on June 7 and then the fireworks will ensue for the Dems from that point on to Philadelphia.

Same in San Diego, lots of Bern no evidence of Hill support at all.

Go Bernie and take Hillary with you!

A haiku:

Vote for that mean bitch
Because there’s lots of tardos
Who aren’t no ways tar’d

and

To predict prison
Is optimistic; her road
Leads to tree and rope

Same in San Francisco, lots of Bernie bumper stickers, no Hillary. She does have legions of drones who will turn out for her though . . .

I have lots of liberal high school classmates, scattered all over the nation. Anecdotally, on FB, every single one of them feels the Bern...every single one. I really can’t fathom exactly who is voting for Hillary. I don’t know a single person who admits to supporting her.

Bernie lacks $$ for meaningful media blitz in expensive californication — big media buys are usually necessary there. But yes, almost every D we know hates Hillary , resents her attempt to buy the D nomination, and many of them think she belongs in prison instead of our WH. Also, Bernie does have a great deal of grass- roots support. I think if he could come into some advertising money, he could rally quite a big win

Likewise. I know a few who swear they will write-in Bern on the presidential ballot.

They can bring themselves to vote Trump but they can go half way a deny Hillary the vote. They see it as strengthening a future Progressive candidate.

Millions spent in California in an attempt to shore up some pretty shaky support for Herself, are millions NOT available to turn on The Donald in the general election campaign.

If you really want to support an “Operation Chaos” against Herself, make a few contributions to Bernie. At first it sounds counter-intuitive, but there would be method in that madness.

First, despite allegations to the contrary, Bernie stands to not do very much better than Herself against The Donald. There is a tsunami building, and it is not confined to any one demographic.

Second, with a strong showing for Bernie, that would make a lot of otherwise marginal districts in both House and Senate races much more competitive for the Republicans, though whether this is a good thing or not, hard to say, because Republicans have not been much more reliable than incumbent Democrats in recent contests, if 2010 and 2014 are any measure. Still not enough to be able to get the necessary support to completely unwind the mischief created by the Current Occupant, though at this point, we should take whatever we can get.

I see lots of Bernie lawn signs in San Diego, especially in areas with lots of gays and young people. I have not seen one Hillary! yard sign. I love those Bernie Babies, for now.
