Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan has called on Muslims to reject contraception and have more children.
In a speech broadcast live on TV, he said "no Muslim family" should consider birth control or family planning.
"We will multiply our descendants," said Mr Erdogan, who became president in August 2014 after serving as prime minister for 12 years.
His AK Party has its roots in Islamism and many of its supporters are conservative Muslims.

The fertility rate in 2015 for Tukery was 2.14. It has been falling for a long time. So Turks have been practicing birth control for a long time. It’s doubtful Erdogan can change that and the fertility rate is likely to decline further.
Turkey is not alone in the Muslim world. Iran’s fertility rate was 1.92 in 2012, which is below replacement rate,
Not like Western countries are aren’t having enough children to even meet replacement level. They are population replacing with immigrants.

A Muslim I worked with married a twelve year old when he was in his late forties. When I knew him he had, as I recall, six children and his wife was pregnant. She had been pregnant practically continuously since he’d married her.
He said he planned on a minimum of fifteen children because his father had that many. (The girls don’t count; only boys.) I asked why he had selected that number and he told me, “We need soldiers for the Jihad.”
If you wanted to find a moderate Muslim, he would have been the one you selected. He seemed friendly, upbeat, good humor. Another thing he yelled at me once, in frustration that he couldn’t understand his job. “You won’t like it when we take over. You will be my slave. You will pay me taxes.”
